Riverlink tolling company
They are as crooked as a question mark.
I have a transponder so when I cross the toll bridges they will take the fees out of my account, which they do. Then about every 3 or 4 months they'll send me a past due invoice claiming I haven't paid and I have to go round and round with them explaining that I have an account that they deduct the fees from and have auto replenishment set up with them. They will claim I don't while I'm looking at the damn screen and telling them dates they took them out and they agree but still say I owe the invoice. After about an hour of my time due to explanation and them "looking over things" they will apologize and claim system error. Then about 3 months later we'll do it again.
I told the "gentleman" today that I don't know who's tolls they are billing me for but I'm not paying. He threatened to withhold my tags and license renewal and I told him that I was contacting my attorney and seeing what recourse I have after constantly dealing with this nonsense, harassment, and basically an attempt of theft by deception. He quickly told me that's not necessary and that it was an "honest" mistake and system mistake.
I told him I have all my "invoices" and will be turning them over to my attorney along with statements showing I paid the tolls through the account and their auto replenishment deductions from my bank account. He kept telling me its not necessary and at one point even asked "what do we have to do to ensure you don't do all that?", to which I responded so you openly admit you're crooked and are now pleading with me to stay out of trouble? He hung up.
I wonder how many people they get to pay "extra" toll fees by threatening them and sending these "false" invoices?
I still think I'm going to meet with my attorney at some point to discuss this issue. Not for compensation for myself, but to ensure they aren't cheating people out of money. Think I'll share my story with the local news agencies as well.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Family members (not immediate) who do really stupid, dangerous, illegal crap when leaving a bar, far beyond anything I could "turn my head" from, if I even wanted to. Then they lose their minds once that first handcuff clicks. After I gave the third warning but they kept crossing that line. That grinds my gears.
More to follow later. Our family Christmas Eve could be interesting this year.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Alright, story time. This may not be terribly long (it probably will be) because I'm at work and this gets me boiling thinking about it, and my Sergeant told me to start watching my mouth. Good luck to that.
This weekend while working a bar detail on foot, we have a female run up to us and say that someone is trying to steal her vehicle, and that she had already called dispatch. Well, it's just around the corner so we take off on foot. We get to the vehicle and sitting on the ground next to it is my mother effing cousin. Now, it's important to make known that he's a POS, the family knows he's a POS, but several in the family baby him to try and help him get right... and by doing so, only enable his POS ways. Anyway, this POS is sitting next to the car in the pouring rain, just spitting over and over again. At the car, that has its door open.
Story goes that the female was attempting to leave a restaurant and his drunk self comes running up to her and tells her that she's in his car. He reaches in, takes the keys from her and tries to pull her out of the vehicle. She slaps him, takes the keys back and runs away. Seeing as he forcibly took her property from her person, he's automatically sitting on top of a Theft 1st Degree charge, and I'm ecstatic. But then the female drops the bomb on us and says that she doesn't want to prosecute, she just wants him to let her leave. Wait, what?
So she leaves, we get him up, he can't stand because he's so drunk. He starts dropping the MF constantly on my partner and spits at him. While doing so, he immediately fell backwards and we articulated, based on everything we'd witnessed, that he was a danger to himself and others, and there for charged Public Intoxication. Transported his worthless self to the County Jail where he sat in the drunk tank for nearly twenty-four hours.
I've gotten a few phone calls from concerned family. The idiot doesn't remember me arresting him, but vaguely thinks he may have seen me some time during the night. Yeah, alright. Works for me.
I'm on the desk tonight. We're expecting snow and the students are in town still, so there will be plenty of drunk sliding and slamming into each other on the streets. That would certainly grind my gears.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
People who are terrible tippers when the service was fine.
I was at Outback Steakhouse with my Dad and Sister after we took him Christmas shopping. There was a party of 20 people (I'm not joking) seated next to us. Anyways, all they did was give the server a hard way to go the entire time. Complaining about food, accusing the young man of lying, stealing food, and whatever else that they could think of. After all was said and done as they were leaving, with tons of discounts from the manager, and free food, they left the young man a $9 tip. That's it. 20 people who's grand total had to be every bit of $300 combined for all they actually ordered, left this young man a $9 tip. He did nothing wrong. He apologized, offered to help out, and whatever else he could despite their ridiculous demands and claims.
I felt so bad for this kid that I pulled $50 out of wallet and handed it to him. I told him that not everyone is like that group of people who were just looking for handouts. He got choked up and hugged me and thanked me.
Pisses me off that there are those types of people out in the world. This kid was most likely either in high school or college and is working and busting his *** only to be treated the way he was treated.
I wanted so badly to find these people in the parking lot and confront them, but was stopped by my Dad and sister.
Some people man....I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Lol. We better not get into restaurant servers and tips too much.
There's always those angry people who take pride in the fact that they don't tip ****, and say that servers don't deserve tips because they're already making a wage, and it's their own fault they don't have a real job.
Whenever someone on Facebook posts a meme about rude customers not tipping, they come out of the woodwork without fail. Just some angry judgemental people out there. They Live a sad existence.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Ketchup packets that aren't Chikfila ketchup packets. IMO those are the only ones deserving of the "Fancy" title.
The first problem is they're (other chains)spotty at best , to open. Theres a good chance you're gonna get ketchup on your pants, or shirt.
The second strike is those little chikfila packets hold so much more than any regular packet.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
