I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

It's really fascinating to me that the posted speed limit is supposed to be an upper limit but so many use it as the lower limit.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Ya, speed limits are messed. And people act like if speed limit was changed people would drive the same speed as before, except now it would be the legal speed. That's NEVER the case. Whatever speed limit is, people are going over.
I hate it because I go the speed limit(maybe a few over if cars behind look too impatient), but theres always those who act like I'm going too slow.
I've had a time before where it was a 1 lane road with a bike lane, I was going speed limit, and some car squeezes through the bikelane to speed past.
Its satisfying when those speeding people go crazy to pass you, and you both end up stopped at the same red light. Ya, was it worth going 10-15 over to get to a red light 5-10 seconds earlier?
On flip side, if you go too slow for no reason, you deserve to get passed. I've seen people driving half the speed limit when it was good weather and nobody infront.Last edited by Majingir; 06-20-2019, 01:12 PM.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
For me it depends on the location of the road too. If it's a residential area, school zone, etc. that's densely populated with houses and families I'm probably going the limit.
If it's a 3 lane interstate in rural Alabama I'm probably running close to 80 in a 70.
I wish the city would lower the speed limit by my house. The road sees quite a bit of traffic and it's 45mph on a 2 lane small-ish road where people are running 50-55. I don't like to blow my grass into the road because it's dangerous and inconsiderate and the alternative is turning my back to traffic coming by so I have so sit and wait for a break in traffic to mow or weed eat near the end of my driveway and edge of the yard.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Well here it is illegal to blow grass on to the road. Be a lot of accidents of motorcycle drivers because of it. Every spring they put those ads into the newspaper telling people it is illegal here. I have yet to see it enforced though.Comment

Single lane roads - City Speed limit is usually 30 or 35 I usually am going around 35 to 40. Country usually 5 or so over the speed limit.
On a single lane road if the car in front of me is going the speed limit I'm fine with it. It's just when they are going 25 in a 35 or 40 I get a bit riled up.
Residential areas ,(Neighborhoods) around here the speed limit in these areas is 25 , I do 20-25. This is the only time I go less than the posted limit. The last thing I want to do is hit a kid or someones pet running out into the road.Comment

The most dangerous thing you can do on the road is fluctuate speed. The game of we’re going 10 over, oh no we’re going 10 under, nope back up to 5 over is annoying.
Followed closely by those who clog up the left, passing lane. It makes everyone behind you who were cruising have to weave around you and creates mass traffic lines and the poor people who were in the right lanes doing the limit are now being caught in the congestion.
Slower traffic, keep right. And get over before the car that’s been making up ground on you for the last minute is right behind you. Pay attention, anticipate, and be courteous.
By far, slow drivers have stood out to be the most dangerous to me. An overly fast driver is here and gone like that... it’s their weaving in and out that can be extremely dangerous. But the slow ones just blockade traffic for miles on end and create situations for everyone behind them.
If you’re going to follow the posted limit, perfectly fine. Just do it in the right lane, and use your signals if you’re abiding by the law to the T. That one always makes my head spin.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

They are risks when you buy, but if you know what to look for, you have better chance of getting a good one.
Same probably applies to watermelon and corn, but I've never figured out a way to know which is better tasting.
Stuff like berries, since the ones I buy are in clear plastic containers, I just inspect them while in the container so I dont touch anything or open the pack. Mainly just judge by colour and at times do eye test for texture.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Yeah, berries in the container get the eye test. Sometimes there will be ones right there that already are growing mold.
For any fresh cut fruit, which I like because they come with a bunch of varieties and it gets my son to eat good stuff, I check “Packed On” date. I’ve become a lot more aware of expiration, best by, sell by, and packed on dates. It’s the worst to get home after paying $X for something and it’s bad, rotten, etc.
I know food handling and the journey/process it takes to get from farms to our table can be... ugly... so any little bit I can do when selecting it from the shelves is worth it.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

I wish I could see the inside of a watermelon or cantaloupe before I buy it.
My grandparents had them in their garden when I was a kid and It's rare that I get one nearly as good as those were. I know some tips for picking them out, but I still never have a lot of luck with it.Comment

A local small chain grocery near me cuts their melons in half. They must taste them too because I've never gotten a bad one from there. It's the only place my wife and I'll buy melons from now. A little bit more expensive but we ain't chucking whole honeydews in the compost anymore.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks
