Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Air conditioner went out last Thursday and we finally got it fixed. It took 6 days to get a compressor and the avg. high for each day during that stretch was 98.2 degrees (not including humidity/heat index). So cooking or doing anything in the house has been brutal. Had a small 5000 btu window unit trying to cool 900 sq. ft. of space that the entire family has been living in. The kids don't seem to mind too much and we have a few twin sized blow up mattresses for them.
The same day my Google Pixel broke. It's 1 month from being paid off through AT&T and I hope the warranty process doesn't reset it. Broke as in won't turn on properly so it's probably not repairable unless it's battery related.. luckily I have a Kyocera piece of garbage work phone.
Then on Friday we found out our condo at the beach reserved last year is not available. The trip is in a few weeks and there's nothing available at a reasonable price that's in a decent location. The former owner sold the condo to someone else and did not turn over the booking information so the new owner booked someone else to stay. After some haggling with VRBO we got a refund but ended up having to pay $1500 more for a room that's not as nice, has less space, and is for 1 day less. They promise to comp the difference in another place but once they saw how much more they all were they didn't even present any options.
All first world problems but I feel like griping so there ya go.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Speaking of 1st world problems and Bluetooth: the airpods I have owned and used for years hold a charge for like 3-4 hours (at best) these days. Normally they'd be good for 6-7. I hate it when wireless earbuds are advertised as having like 40 hours of charge them, when they actually mean you can charge them in the case over and over.
I'm seriously thinking of getting a pair of those flex style wireless headphones with a wire between them that last for 12-16+ hours. I am truly spoiled and entitled to the point that I pretty much never want to have to charge them.Comment

I don't like talking on that thing. Feels like I'm talking to my car and not a person. If you need to make a phone call find a parking lot or something. I hate turning my car on and my phone automatically syncing when I don't want it too.NCAA: Kentucky Wildcats

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I live in Maine ,South Portland , city , not out in the country (boonies). When Spring/Summer arrives I like having the windows open and letting that nice fresh air inside. Especially a night when sleeping.
The gear grinder here is some people in my neighborhood like to have fires going in their back yard and the smoke and smell always finds it's way inside the house. I've never understood why someone wants to sit around a fire in their yard when it's 75 to 85 degrees out.
I've spoke with the two main culprits, the people right behind me and to the right. I told them the smoke smell fills our house and forces us to close the windows making it quite uncomfortable to sleep on warm/hot nights. They have said they will try and keep the fire from smoking a lot.
Nothing has changed so I did some research. The city ordinance states that to have an open fire in the city you must have a permit. I hate to be that guy but from now on the cops may find themselves checking on fire permits around here.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Yes, our body is around 98 degrees at all times, but it only takes 70 degrees to keep our body to regulate at that temperature.
Once we start to climb past 70 degrees out body naturally starts to warm up from the outside, in.
So, with 98 degree weather that is far past the temperature we need to regulate our body, so in turn that's why we have that "hot" feeling.
Also in these circumstances, we are usually wearing clothes. Clothes stop the process of cooling in a lot of regions of the body, so also makes us hotter than what we usually are, because, you know, decency of not being nekked.
