Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
"Blue medical tent". Why say "blue"? Wouldn't it suffice to say "medical tent"?

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
The first half makes you think it's such a unique moment, then find out it's the first time since 5 years ago which, depending on the stat, isn't impressive.
Saying a team is on their first 5 game win streak in 5 years is noteworthy. Saying that team has every player record an RBI in a game for the first time in 5 years isn't as special sounding.Comment

"He's been in the brown tent now for 30 minutes, I hope everything is ok. Wonder if his pre-game meal didn't sit well"
Or the mad dash by a sideline guy to deliver additional rolls of toilet paper to the brown tent.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

To his credit, the one time I heard the tent referred to last night was by Joe Buck and he simply said, "medical tent". That's seems to be the exception though, I hear "blue medical tent" enough that expect to hear "green field" and "brown football" too.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I would guess that the most likely culprit is the physical structure of the building but it is certainly possible it is your cell phone provider.
I can't say that I've ever experienced this but I don't really go into stores. My hate for shopping overrides my disgust with Amazon so I buy just about everything online.
Here is some info about the legal aspects about jamming radio signals, steps to troubleshoot and who to report it to:

Since it is illegal, it is unlikely that a corporate store would use such technology and think that no one would report it (employee or customer).

It's most likely a mix of building construction plus my phone is being horrible, but with Christmas shopping it was a gear grinderComment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
You know what really grinds my gears? Political ads and solicitors (not making this a political discussion. Just frustration with this example).
We have a runoff here in Georgia for the senate, and we have had campaign workers come to my door almost every single day for the last 2 weeks wanting to ask questions. I have a no soliciting sign on my door that normally works for people trying to sell me something like new internet service or lawn care. These people all ignore the sign though, and when I remind them to please respect it they all claim "oh I'm not soliciting".
So, I've finally added another sign next to my no soliciting one to help them out.
Definition: Soliciting - ask for or try to obtain (something) from someone.
ex1: "he called a meeting to solicit their views"
ex2: "historians and critics are solicited for opinions by the auction houses"
edit - This post really goes for solicitors of any kind. A couple of years ago we experience a streak of people coming by to sell us lawn care, new internet, or other services. Probably a dozen instances over the course of 3 weeks. So I posted the "no soliciting" sign on my front door. We have no city ordinance against it, but most people have respected it since then (I've seen people walk up, look at the sign and then walk away). These campaign workers all ignore the sign though, either intentionally or by ignorantly believing that asking polling questions is not soliciting.Last edited by KSUowls; 12-04-2022, 05:13 PM.Comment
