Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I can't watch price is right as much anymore simply because prices have become so crazy that I'm horrible at that game now.
Used to be fun when you could guess 99 cents for something on one of the games, but now that same thing is probably $3.
And going back to the stupid game show contestants, Price is Right with people who clearly don't pay attention in contestants row. Someone might bid $2000, someone else $1500, someone else $1200. The last person randomly says $1150 or something. Are you paying attention? If you're bidding lower than the lowest bid, just bid $1 so any price from $1--1199 wins. Or they might bid $1495. Again, someone bid $1500, someone $1200. If you think it's between those two, bid $1201. You're just wasting your bid.
I like at least on Hollywood Squares that Nate seems to call out the contestants/politely tell them they messed up when he's like "I would've gone with ___ for the block".Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I put Drew Carey and Steve Harvey together as comedians who probably like having new contestants every show to interact with and play off of. Family Feud obviously has a lot more for Steve to play with, but Drew seems happy enough letting the games be the star of the show.
Agreed on feeling bad for Wayne Brady. How's he supposed to pretend to be interested in a guy dressed as broccoli or whatever the **** they do on that show? I mean, come on.Comment

But there was that clip that went viral of a girl embarrassing this guy on national TV by saying they were "just friends" after he made it seem like they were together.Last edited by dubcity; 02-08-2025, 08:47 PM.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Whatsapp not having a "return to last message read" thingy. Like if I enter a chat were I have 50 new messages and get reading up to message 20th, then go read another char or something then when I go back to the other chat it begins at the end instead of picking up were I left. I just can't.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Same. My sick days during the 80s convinced me I was going to be a financial wizard.
That hasn't changed since the Barker days. "Utter dolt" seems to be one of the tropes the they look for when interviewing people in the line to "come on down" (the other types being "over-the-top jumper" "person wearing custom TPIR shirt", "hot chick", "dude in full military dress" and various combos of each). I always imagined that the few smart contestants played dumb during their initial interviews to fool the producers.
If you want to be on price is right, or at least have a good shot, arrive in a group who has matching clothes. If you have a beer league team you're part of, you and some friends show up with your jerseys. If you have some custom shirt, all of you get the same one or ones that go together and someone will get picked.
These shows definitely cast stupid people for that reason too. Family feud probably does the same. It won't be as fun if people are getting answer after answer on the board (although, in the Steve Harvey era we do see lots of stupid answers actually wind up on the board that apparently a few people in the survey said). They probably cast stupid people on purpose for Steve to use them as a straight man.
Question could be something like "fill in the blank, corn ___" and the person is like "corn...er". They clearly don't get what the question asks for, and it just leaves Steve to give them the "Ok...that's not up there" look.Last edited by Majingir; 02-10-2025, 06:54 PM.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
People who failed kindergarten and won't push their chairs back in after using them. See this all the time at the gym (I don't care if it is the gym, I still do it).
At first I thought it was a couple of jerks and then I realized that it is actually the norm and I seem to be in the minority? Like, it literally takes no more than 2 seconds to do it, why you gotta be like that.OSHA Inspector for the NBA.Comment

When I went to two tapings in 2024, it was pretty fascinating. The first show we went to, a lady behind us got called, someone in front of us got called, and someone two rows in front of us got called. The next time we went was for my dad's 75th bday and he had a shirt and didn't get called. If they don't want my dad on the show then it's pretty insane what they are looking for then.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
But people in general who don't put stuff back/clean up after themselves (in public) are horrible.
Not uncommon at all at my work to see people just leave their water bottles or coffee cups on random tables and never finish it or throw it away. Or using anything like a pen or any sort of supplies and just leaving it wherever they want (and then the next time they need something they'll ask where it is and I'm always like "this is why you people should be putting stuff back where you found it so we don't need a year supply of stuff if we're losing it every day).
Forget about all these obvious studies we always see in the news like "people who walk X number of steps a day live x years longer than those who walk under x number of steps". Let's do a study on the correlation between people who leave shopping carts in parking lots vs people who talk on speakerphone (or just loud in general) in public areas/buses vs people who litter vs people who don't signal when they turn/change lanes.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Selling something to someone online and the person is constantly asking question about shipping and freaking out thinking it's a scam when its literally been minutes between messages.
I can't teleport it to your house. I'm not reading your messages every minute of the day. Doesn't mean it's a scam, it means it's some worthless item I'm just quickly/cheaply trying to sell online and not spending lots of time keeping up with it.
Finally got through the deal and shipped it and even gave them all the tracking info.
Now they're freaking out that the tracking number doesn't show up.....they're entering the number on the wrong courier service.
They're definitely someone who is on the receiving end of the "ma'am, this is a Wendy's" meme aren't they?Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I watch every day and it seems like there's definitely certain criteria they're looking for when it comes to contestants. It's pretty ridiculous.

If game shows would just pick boring people I’d go on Wheel of Fortune and dominate though.
