I know that first job has been stringing him along. The second one sounds like just a gear grinder, getting transferred to a voicemail when he's trying to get in touch with someone. I can understand his frustrations.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

I know when I'm at work, I might not answer a call when I'm at my desk and really dug in to something or someone else is in my office and we're discussing something. Leave me a voicemail, and I'll call you when I can give you the full attention you deserve.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
It's not about the job so much as it is where we've gotten to in society. People don't reply to texts or emails. They don't want to look "available", or "needy", or whatever. They're "too busy." Whether it's chicks pulling that crap or a douche like this guy I spoke with. I guarantee he's not busy enough to ignore multiple days of contact.
I don't know. Maybe I just do things differently. If I see something, I reply to it damn near immediately. No sense in waiting if I see it. Interesting concept, there.
Gotta start changing the way ****'s done in this world. Go Larry David.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 01-04-2013, 06:10 PM.Comment

Yeah, multiple voice mails at reasonable intervals ignored is out of line, I'll agree with that.Comment

Especially when I got tipped to this opportunity through someone he's friends with. Whatever. He's got my resume, number, and email address if he wants.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I agree. I think a reasonable timeline for correspondence in regards to Businesses, Employment opportunities is a Day or Two after leaving a message, Email; so on.
After your second attempt with no response it just looks unprofessional on their part. If they're like extremely busy, it's unlikely that they can't even leave a response something a long the lines of "We are extremely sorry to due unfortunate circumstances we cannot review your application at this time, we will contact you when the time permits."
Even in that case most businesses, delegate that kind of stuff down to a Human Resources, Hiring Manager type position that can handle those kind of things.Last edited by Feared; 01-04-2013, 06:27 PM.Minnesota Vikings

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Eh, I can't pretend like I'm a perfect driver.
I've had guys ride my back bumper for a mile and then finally pass and I gear down and leave them.
Then I've had moments where I have slowed down under 10 mph on a two lane road, just because they wouldn't get off my bumper.
I don't do much of that stuff anymore, but I do have my moments. It also depends on where I'm driving. If I'm on the interstate and it's crowded, I will just take the high road and let them be a jackass and go on about my day.
I hate those people who swap to the "fast lane" on the interstate and go slower than everyone else. I just hate un aware people, in general. People who stack up in two or three lanes and go the same speed and hold everyone behind them hostage... *******s.Comment

Traveling with women. They have no concept of packing correctly. You'll never catch me paying extra for overweight bags or too many check ins.Comment

I gotta take a bit of offense with this. My fiancee is a ****ing magician with packing. I can barely get a weekend's worth of my clothes into a backpack, and she'll somehow get a week and a half for me in there. Incredible.

Happened on my last vacation. I felt like a complete idiot in the airport at the ticket counter having to open both of our suitcases and shift her stuff to mine just to pass weight for her luggage.Comment
