So I could just bring my own cup and get free drinks for eternity? Sweet! *sarcasm*

Yep, when I worked at a movie theater the employees had to use a special employee cup, but could have unlimited pop or frozen coke.
They tracked cups against the sales to that register, so if your number of cups was off they'd treat it like stealing. End of night you'd count down your register along with cups, popcorn bags, and candy. If you were missing stuff you'd be in big trouble.
My first "real job" was Fazoli's (which was cool, aside from smelling like garlic butter for hours after done work) when I was 16. The managers that are still there (there's 2 now that run it) still love me from 10 years ago and I get free food when I go and a discount for the people with me. Counting cups and everything is unheard of for me. The only thing we'd have to pay for was if we wanted food for lunch, and even then it was either 25% or 50% off. I'd also get to make my own food before break, so I'd make a sub or panini and send it through the oven then take my break.
We would also hit up the restaurants (we had McDonald's, Arby's, Schlotzsky's Deli and a couple others within walking distance) if we were closing and do food trade with them if we all felt like getting something else. It was pretty sweet for a first job.badComment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I have a co-worker who used to own a few chain restaurants and from what he has told me the profit margin these restaurants make on fountain/soft drinks is just obscene. It costs them something like 20 cents per serving on these drinks and the mark-ups are ridiculous, you're paying between $1.50-2.50 depending on the cup size.
The cup being more valuable than the actual drink is right.Minnesota Vikings

That's why they'd track the bags, so you couldn't be giving anything away for free.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Here's my thing, though: I hate when I see customers in front of me order a soda and get this popcorn bucket-sized cup, and then I order a water and they hand me a cup the size of a shot glass.
**** you. Now either I have to go to the fountain and refill my drink 10 times during the meal, or if it is at a sit-down restaurant, I'm constantly bothering the waitress for refills (if I can even flag her down at all).Ryan Spencer

Re: Soda
I don't know how it is at restaurants, but for football games UT would get the soda from the vendor for free. They had to pay the vendor for the cups. After games, you'll see employees walking around picking up cups so they can recycle them.Comment

I also hate the dumb coworker who is always a Debbie Downer. What's worst is he has to come into my office and complain about every dumb thing possible.Comment

Measuring, cutting, replacing ceiling tile
Food places trying to sucker people into upsizing.
If I go to Arbys, they say "Do you want that medium or large" as if there is no regular.
Zaxby's will ring up and charge for a large drink, unless you specifically ask for regular. When I worked there, they got mad at me for asking what size drink someone wanted.Last edited by AUChase; 08-09-2013, 03:27 PM.Comment
