There's really no reason to stick a new TV in every room where they rarely get used. That extra grand I didn't needlessly spend is earning me 20% somewhere.

How's that for a reason?

No one should wear glasses anymore. There's laser eye surgery, get off your lazy asses and get it.

Doesn't really compare. You can buy a HDTV for $200. LASIK cost around $2K for both eyes.

I'm glad I kept an old tube tv since my cable is SD and I have no control over it (it's included with the rent). SD broadcasts look weird on an HDtv, I keep the good tv for antenna broadcasts and ps3.

It absolutely compares. You don't need to get either. They aren't necessities. All it is is people thinking it's cool that they can look down on people because they don't get the newest thing that's out there.

You can't compare a $200 purchase to a $2000 one.

Owning a $200 HDTV isn't the newest thing out there. No one here has a 4K TV and making fun of people.

You can buy whatever you want but that's not going to stop someone from judging you.

But you state that someone is lazy for not getting LASIK. From that, it comes across that you are looking down on people for wearing glasses AND not getting surgery.

Think we can agree LASIK is still expensive although it has dropped in price over the years. Why should anyone tell to spend my money on this?

I am confused because you are against purchasing a new TV for financial reasons but imply that people need to stop wearing glasses and drop a couple grand on eye surgery. Not everyone has that kind of money either....

I judge people all the time for various reasons. I agree we shouldn't for certain reasons but it's human nature.
