Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

Grind-related question: I'm assuming people are not fans of people who exceed 12 items in the 12 items or less self checkout lane. Sometimes I knowingly use that lane even though my items exceed the limit by, say, two.

The question - is it still egregious and gear-grinding for me to pull off a 14 item self checkout in a 12 item lane if my self-checkout speed and skills far exceeds all of those around me? Many times I'll begin my run alongside someone with half as many items, but I'll finish twice as quickly. Always felt like a grey area though.

I would say no. When it "looks" like it could be 12 then not a big deal, atleast for me.

However, sometimes when I do my grocery shopping during weekday mornings, the 12 items or less checkstand is the only one open. Never fails that I have all my groceries on the conveyor(?) belt AND currently being rung up by the clerk and someone with 2 items get in line behind me. Almost feel I should pay for their items due to the inconvenience.. Lol

As long as you aren't bringing a full cart to it, it's fair game. I don't even care if you have 20 items. Just know what you're doing. Nothing worse than someone using one of those machines that is confused by it.

When a store has 15-20 registers but only three to four of them are open especially when it's obviously a packed time at the store. Waiting in line is one thing but it's so much more excruciating when u look around and see like ten empty lanes and can't help but think, why'd they build all these registers to never have them all open????

You must be talking about Target. I have never seen them use more than five registers out of the 20+ they have. Makes me wonder.

lol ya. Even on the busy days, not every one is even open. Just one big waste. Stores should just have more of those manual scanning machines instead.

A helpful machine I saw in a store...you search for an item on it, and it'll tell you where the item is in the store(like the aisle and stuff), it also gives you online web page of the item too so you can see if it got any reviews or anything.

The same is true of the La Crosse Target store when a tiny weirdo in glasses is working the Express lane.

It's crazy, but big box stores like Target and Walmart build their checkout lanes (and parking lots) around the high demand days of Black Friday and other major shopping holidays. They do so much business on these select few days, it actually makes financial sense to have 20 checkout lanes that are left unused for 360 days of the year.

Good point but man it's frustrating to see those empty lanes on a random Thursday afternoon

Wal Mart can't afford to have those one or two extra $7.25 hourly workers on those two lanes.

Not being able to put my new grill together because of the weather. The lady at Lowe's said they could put it together for free, but "that's half the fun" says I.

Put it together in a garage or something lol.

But ya, putting things together(depending on what it is) is usually half the fun. Unboxing everything too is always fun.

when people feel the need to slam doors/cabinets/drawers/anything else early in the morning or late at night. It may be the most annoying thing in life.
