Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
And other times, the teacher flat out forgets if you attended or not and then you don't get the attendance or participation mark even though you were there and participated and everything.
What teacher is doing attendance based on memory? That seems stupid. Any time I had a class with an attendance grade in college, they either passed around an attendance sheet or we would have answer questions using this electronic device (we of course had to purchase) that would record our unique ID number.
I remember one class that probably had 200 people in taught by this 80 year old guy. He would pass around a packet at the beginning of class and you had to find your name and initial next to it. Me and my buddy would just initial for each other. Don't get me wrong, 90% of the time, we were both there, but the other 10% we just took advantage of the system.
I had a MWF math class that monitored attendance by people who turned in homework, but we only turned it in Wednesdays, and they only assigned it on Wednesdays... So I only went on Wednesdays. I thought I was gonna fail the class based on my test scores, but I got a B because I was always there to turn in homework.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Depending on the subject, class participation can be important so I don't really have a problem with it being part of a grade. Though coming up with a good way to keep track of it can be a challenge. Honestly though, I didn't always participate much in college, but I never got a bad participation grade. Most teachers were pretty lenient with it.
Also never had a big lecture class take attendance, only smaller classes, when discussions were a part of it, so you had to be there to participate.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

I have no sympathy for people who lose points because they don't show up to class or sit there and never say a word.
If you're sick, email the professor. Every professor I have doesn't count you missing a day if you email them before class to tell them you're sick.--
Have you ever wanted to coach or play basketball at the next level, but something prevented you from achieving that dream? Fret no more. Ask me about SimWorld Hoops to see how you can create your virtual self, and follow your path from the prep-level to the pros.

My wife and I had this conversation yesterday
Wife: Where do you want to eat lunch?
Me: You know I haven't had Mexican food in about a week..
Her: I'm not really in the mood for Mexican
Me: Oh well, I don't really care then.. I guess you want to go to Chili's?
Her: Yeah, let's go to Chili's!
we get to the restaurant and she starts looking through the menu
Her: I wonder if the tacos are any good...

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Women and their lack of decisiveness in food choices is endlessly frustrating.
A typical convo:
Her: What do you want for dinner?
Me: I literally do not care. Please just let me know what you want and I'm cool with it.
Her: I don't want to decide, what are you in the mood for?
Me: Seriously, I don't care. I know subconsciously there is something you want, please just let me know.
Her: I picked last time you pick something.
Me: What about sushi?
Her: Ehhhh not really feeling it
Me: Look, I don't care. Please just pick what you want.
Her: OMG I had a rough week I don't know please just pick something.
Me: What about that chinese place?
Her: Not really feeling chinese
Me: What about Tony's Pizza?
Her: Can we do Papa John's?
