Speaking of names as well, my name is Carlos.

In 7th grade a teacher started calling me Henry. Don't know why. We never had a Henry in the school.

So one time she kept calling for Henry to read the next paragraph and blew a gasket when I didn't respond.

Even after telling her my name wasn't Henry, she still called me it.

About a week later, she called me by Henry again and it took her daughter (yes, she was in my class) to tell her mom that my name was Carlos.

Still don't get how that happened.

In my highchool we were called by our last names. So during attendance with a sub one day my friend whos last name was Galindo (read Gah-lin-doe) got his name called and she says "is Mr. Caliendro here?" I (and my 16 year old immaturity) bust out laughing, perfect timing for me to be the only one who heard the morbid mispronunciation. Freaking sub almost wrote me up for it.

Needless to say I still call him Caliendro to this day.

My mom took me to dinner and grocery shopping tonight and there was no shortage of idiots. First, on the way to Steak'n Shake, there was the guy who had his right turn signal on while sitting at an intersection then proceeded to go straight instead of turning. Then at Giant Eagle as we were walking in these people were taking their groceries out of their buggy to carry to their car and just left the buggy sitting in the middle of the entry area. Then later this guy decides he's just going to stand right in the middle of the entrance to an aisle I was waiting to turn down. Then the people in front of me at the checkout had like 100 items but apparently not enough money to pay for it all as they were taking their time trying to decide what to buy and what to put back. Took forever to check out. There were lines at all the other registers too. Finally, on the way back to my apartment we were sitting at a red light in the left lane and another car pulls up next to us in the right turning lane then when the light turns green proceeds to shoot out in front us and dash into the left lane. Then a few blocks later the guy decides to make a left turn and didn't even bother using his turn signal. My mom pointed out that that must be how they drive in California as the car had California plates. People :

One of those little "life hacks" my mom taught me like 5 years ago. This works great for sweatshirts, never tried it with shorts. Pull the string completely out, and fasten a safety pin to it, kinda like this:

Fasten the safety pin, and put it in one of the holes. The safety pin makes it very easy to feed through to the other side. It takes like 5 or 10 minutes, so it's not a super fast process, but it works!

Sheesh, reminds me of my 1st day of 4th grade though. My name is Jason and from K-3 I had been in a special class for hearing impaired students that was outside the district my family lived in but for 4th grade I was mainstreamed as I didn't need the special class. Well, when my mom went to register me (and my sister who was starting kindergarten that year), somehow my name got put down as John. My best guess is to how that happened is that they mixed up my name with one of my emergency contact's names (my maternal grandfather is named John). Anyways, my mom told me about this before the 1st day of school, but she also told me that she'd gotten it fixed I guess after some stuff had been mailed to the house with the wrong name on it. Well, when I got to my first day of school and thinking it was all straightened out when the teacher was taking attendance and called "John" I just assumed there was another kid in the class with the same last name as me. As she kept calling "John" I was sitting there thinking "I guess John isn't here" until she finally came over to my desk and addressed me directly and I realized she referring to me (Apparently her class roster hadn't been corrected) so I had to correct her and tell her my name was Jason. At first she asked if it was a nickname so I gave her my full name. Happened again later that day in gym class with another teacher, but that time a kid who I had met at day care over the summer backed me up when I corrected the teacher. My mom still has all my report cards from elementary school and I believe the envelope with the one for at least the 1st 9 weeks of 4th grade even has the wrong name printed on the sticker.

I tried that once on a pair of sweat shorts except I used a large paperclip. Failed miserably and ended up with the paperclip stuck inside the waistband.
