Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Not only roomates can be a PITA, but neighbors can be, too.
Our neighbors to our back are just plain not nice.
They have three adult boys and one still lives at home. All three have these monster trucks with dual exhaust and the one that lives at home loves to "rev up" the engine from time to time.
Our neighbor lady(she's approaching 70) yelled out the last time that happened, that's not necessary. The dad comes around around the front of the house and tells the neighbor, you have a lot of nerve, you have killer dogs and one of them will kill someone someday. Son, rev the engine as much as you want.
Son comes out and tells the lady, wait till I get the motorcycle out.
Our youngest son told me he was watching TV at 2:00am once and heard one of the trucks engines being revved. He said, he thought, wtf? This is a family neighborhood area, not the Indy 500 or near frat houses to show off the muscle trucks one has.
The same neighbors three years ago tried to get us to chip in for $300 because they were trimming branches and limbs from our trees hanging over the property.
We didn't give them one dime.Comment

Why has no one called the police for disturbance?
As a guy who once had a pain in the *** downstairs neighbor who would complain if ladies wearing heels walked from the room to the kitchen, cops will come if you call. I dealt with a lot of calls over nothing.

I usually just do buy it now, no auction, I'll try that next time. It's spare cash anyway, just annoying at times. I'm still amazed at how well N64 games sell on Ebay.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Speaking of neighbors, I have one directly across the street that leaves their front yard in a shocking state. They have a "Bagster", which is a dumpster in a bag. Home Depot sell them and they can hold up to like 1500kg's of garbage. They have been doing renovations for what seems to be an eternity. That dumpster bag has been on their driveway/front lawn for a good year and a half. There's busted cabinets, vanities, carpets, buckets, garbage bags, etc. It's an absolute eyesore.
There is to my knowledge at least 5 houses for sale on our street and I think one or more of the homeowners have complained about them. A City By-Laws car came by a few weeks ago and took countless pictures of the property and posted a huge notice to her front door. I went over the other day to read it and she could get a fine up to $10,000 for "Dangerous and Unlawful Property". The deadline for removal is tomorrow or I guess the city remove it all and give her the hefty fine.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Door to door solicitors. Stop ringing my ****ing doorbell. If I wanted new blinds, or a home security service, I would call you. You ringing my doorbell getting my dogs riled up does not make me want to do business with you. In fact when I am ready for new blinds or a home security system, I won't do business with your company becuase of this.
We moved into a new town home community and they are still building homes so this is to be expected somewhat, but every single day for a month, is really starting to grind my ****ing gears.Moderator

"I'm not here to sell you anything"
"Ok"
"We're doing free estimates on home improvements"
"No thanks" shuts door
WTF? Yeah, I'm going to do business with a contractor who lied to me right off the bat.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
As much as those door to door sales people annoy me, I get what they're doing and if I had a business that suited it, I'd do the same. For every ten houses that shut them out, there's probably one that does give them their business and business is business.
Annoying yes but at the root of it, it's also understandable.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Technically he didn't lie. He isn't selling you anything, he's just gonna inspect your house, and say what's wrong with it,and hope you panic and then are like "Is there anything I can do" and then he'll bring up the fact that he does repairs like that.
You should've been like "Do you do free repairs" and if he says no,then close the door lolComment

It's like those PC cleanup commercials where they offer a "free diagnosis" online, then when you run it, the thing will pick up 100s of errors and you better pay now to clean it and speed it up!Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

"What's wrong, Jennifer?"
"It's my computer. It's running so slow."
"You should get PC Matic."
"What's PC Matic, John?"
"Well Jennifer, PC Matic helps speed up your computer. It sure looks like PC Matic would work for you."
"Wow, John! PC Matic sounds great! Where can I buy PC Matic?"
And so on and so forth.
Can't stand that crap.Comment
