Well Red Sox fans shouldn't pretend they have the storied history of the Yankees. The worst part of living in MA has got to be Red Sox fans or Patriots "fans" who rooted for the Giants prior to 2002.

I never try and compare histories. You really can't because they intertwine. I'm a Red Sox fan but what drove me nuts was the constant talk in 2004 of the stupid curse being reversed. It was to the point that I stopped wearing my Red Sox hat. It was overkill.

speaking of curses, the one about philadelphia was pretty interesting. at city hall there is a statue of william penn on the top. and the story goes that william penn didnt want any building to be higher than his statue or something along those lines, but of course years later much taller buildings were built. so that was the "curse". well during the 2008 mlb playoffs, i think it was a comcast chanel who put a minature statue of william penn (replica of the one on top of city hall) on top of the tallest building, so that the miniature statue was now the tallest. and then the phillies won the world series.. i think the taller buildings were contructed in the mid 80's that were taller than the city hall statue

im not sure, it was all over the local news though and comcast sportsnet, but i didnt pay THAT much attention to it because i was too immersed in the playoff run to really pay too much attention to any side stories like that. thats why my post probably has some things wrong and why i put the link lol

Teachers who think I took accounting because I wanted to and not solely because it was on the list of Gen Eds I have to take.

I hate when teachers lecture about how learning the material is more important than a grade, and then grade you at the end of the semester.

Smokers

Not the act of smoking itself (I find it repulsive but you choose for yourself), but people who do it in public places away from designated zones. For instance people at my campus who just have their cigarette out while they are walking to class even though there are 30,000 students (granted not all at one time) who have to follow in their wake.

I hated the people who would stand right outside the doorway to smoke. When I was in law school leaving the building meant walking through a thick cloud of tobacco smoke. Thankfully the school eventually thought being a law school maybe it should conform to Massachusetts law on the matter and built a gazebo the distance away from doors they were supposed to be. In college it was even worse with all of the dirty crunchy kids with their clove cigarettes. I always equated blowing smoke in my face to spitting on someone, only last I checked saliva didn't contain carcinogenics.

Smoking doesn't bother me much, but here in NC, where smoking has long been the norm, you can really see the toll it has taken on some of the elderly. Their hair and skin is so dry and yellowish. You can even see wrinkles around their mouths that are lines of how they would take puffs.

Not the biggest pet peeve but I cant stand guys who feel the need to start alot of threads. They dont search if the topic has been talked about and sometimes it seems they are searching just for things to start threads about. Not a hude deal as the threads tend to get locked quick but its a pet peeve of mine.

The snobbish chuckle of every nerd in my computer classes every time the word "Vista" is mentioned. I get it, Vista sucked, you're still annoying.

They dont search if the topic has been talked about and sometimes it seems they are searching just for things to start threads about. Not a hude deal as the threads tend to get locked quick but its a pet peeve of mine.
