Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
The school discussion in the OT thread got me thinking about professors. I hate when professors have super thick accents.
I'm totally fine with the fact that they're from wherever they're from, but man, you'd think being able to communicate effectively should be one of the top priorities for teaching a college course.
Some have been so bad where it got to the point where I just didn't go to lecture. Learn by reading the book myself and from the TA's in section.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Emergency Rooms for 2 reasons.
If one person is there, and it's not life threatening, the whole social circle of that person shows up. His or her aunt, pastor, deacon, 3rd cousin, co-worker from 2 jobs ago, person who accidentally phoned him or her 3 years ago. It's absurd to have all these people in the ER waiting area.
Which brings me to reason 2. They are also loud, as normally groups that know each other are. And in some cases I've seen, it's just loud people in general having a conversation with each other. And at times try to pull you into the mix.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
So I walk into Kroger and see this handwritten sign "4 day sale"..."All patio and grills 30% off"
30%? I need a new grill and know they sell a Char-Griller for $119, so $84? Sold in a heartbeat. So I go through the store then at the end where they have the grills sitting, "Char-Griller Super Pro $104." Wait, $104? It's been $119 all year, and 70% of that is sure as **** not $104. So I take a closer look "price without card, $149". So they jacked up the price to put it on sale. **** you Kroger, I'm not buying that **** off principle now, I'd rather give Lowes and extra $15 before buying your shady sale priced grill.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I think the term "How's it going" is the new way of saying hello. I know when I say it, I'm not actually trying to find out how the person is doing. Just my way of making small talk, instead of just saying "hello"Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Dumb criticism from supposed sports analysts.
Saw Stephen A. Smith on FT the other day (I know, I know, mistake) throwing Jordan under the bus for making bad decisions on draft day. I am fully aware of the mistakes MJ has made, but he said he made a big mistake when he passed on Damian Lillard.
Before the draft no one had Lillard as a top 3 pick. Everyone had MKG #2. If I remember correctly, SAS was praising MJ for picking MKG in the draft when it went down. Can't stand when people talk out of both sides of their mouths.Comment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
MKG was and is a solid pick IMO. I wanted to trade up for Lillard at #6 from #8 but top 3 would have been stupid. Smith is just a moron.
On the same tangent, Harold Reynolds on MLB Network. GOOD GOD IS HE A MORON."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
I agree. Kid is still 19 years old and showed improvement already in his first season.
Is incredible in transition and he's shown potential to be an elite finisher at the rim. Obviously he needs to find his jump shot, but he's already an above average wing defender. MKG has staying power for sure.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles
