Oak Hill would be one of the top D3 teams for basketball. Don't know about football though.

They have tried it. ND played the Giants decades ago, and got trounced, 22-0. That was in 1930, and it was a ND all star team coached by Rockne, coming off back to back national championships.

When it comes to comparing two players, it always becomes about Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant and not about the two people in question.

I do a lot of lurking and reading in there and there are some interesting debates and points being made, but It's almost a waste of time to give my opinion. There's too much of an age gap amongst guys and too much comparing to history and basketball played 20+ years ago.. The debates always end the same.

It's not necessarily the NBA forum. It's the fans in general. OS has it pretty good when it comes to basketball talk. We've made it that way through some pretty damn hard work over the years. You should have seen the way it was before you registered. Yeesh.

The NBA forum made me resign mod powers way back when. I couldn't keep up with it.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to be nearly as bad as what it once was. Still get some heated exchanges and nice rivalries popping up, but a lot of the talk seems pretty logical and reasonable.

Yeah but not all those NFL players are as good as the college players. A college team may have 4-5 first rounders.

All those players are better than the college players. Not only is their body more mature, but their knowledge and experience are way up there. Any college team would get absolutely decimated by an NFL team. I'd be willing to say all pro teams have more than 4-5 first round picks that are veterans on their team, and they aren't the ones that flamed out. I know Green Bay has 6 that they drafted, plus Woodson.

You could take any NFL veteran today... If you took them how they are now, and put them on their college team they would instantly be the best player. It's just not possible for a bunch of boys to win against a team full of men in football, as fun as it would be to think "what if?"

Also, I stay out of most forums on this site for whatever odd reason. It's pretty much just off-topic and weekly WWE/NFL Game Threads for me. E&T every now and again.

4-5 first round potential NFL players. The college team would get completely demolished in the trenches. Any NFL starting defensive line would toy with a college o-line and it would be the same on the other side of the ball. The best college offense would have no chance against any NFL front 7. They would not be able to get out of the backfield on most runs, and the QB would be asking to be taken out at half time. It wouldn't be close.

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?

The reason a college team couldn't beat a NFL team is simply because of the college QB. They aren't use to the various defensive fronts NFL teams use. Plus in college, you might have 4 fast players on defense on the team, in the NFL, everybody on defense is faster then the average college player considering the NFL is made up of the best college players.

So in a nut shell you comparing an All Star team worth of talent to a regular team.

To put it in even more plain terms, the weakest team in the Barclay Premiere League can kick the crap out of the best team in MLS if they take it seriously. Half the time even when they don't take it serious, they still kick the crap out of the best MLS team.

That's not the same thing and is also not true. The top MLS team vs. the bottom EPL team is about a 50-50 proposition on a neutral field.

It's still early. Give it about another month.

At least the Armchair Coaches/GMs are out in full force already in there.
