Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
My first name is Ryan but people must be hard of hearing because they always call me Brian.
99% of the time, I just let it go. On rare occasions when I get pissed about it, I just say, "Romeo, Yankee, Alpha, November" and the average idiot just looks at me with the most confused look ever. It is quite amusing.Comment

I think the harder I try to annunciate the "R", the more my mouth looks like it is forming a "B" sound. That's my best theory so far.Ryan Spencer

Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
Same thing happens to me. I'm actually glad I'm not the only one because for the longest time I thought I was saying it weird or had a speech impediment or something.

Another thing I do is when I order food over the phone, I say, "Ryan with an R" just to be safe.Comment

I get "Billy" when I give my name for takeout orders (my name is Dylan). Sometimes I'll give my girls name or what my Dad always did, an abbreviation of our last name (Mac).NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

It grinds my gears even more when the two teams are rivals of each other. It's amazing how many people around here are fans of Michigan for football and MSU for basketball. I don't get it at all.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Also, on the name spelling front, I never knew there was spelling of Kevin as Keven. I've never seen it that way, yet some people seem to think that's how it's spelled. Weird but oh well.
I've adopted my friend's annoyance for her name being spelled wrong. She's basically my best friend and we used to be roommates before she moved to NYC, a term of about 4-5 years I think. Her name is Stefanie, and it seems whenever I mention her name on the computer, everyone else types back "Stephanie", as if they're assuming I'm the one spelling her name wrong and subtly trying to correct me.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

I met this girl last year whose name was "Meggin"
Come on now. Megan, Meagan, Meghan, and now Meggin? Parents who go out of there way to have their children's names be original or unique kind of grind my gears for some reason.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey
