You said it way better than I could. I dont know where he is coming from. Ill admit that many shows are set in NY, but alot more (to say the least) are set outside of NY.

I didn't say best. I said highest rated. M*A*S*H was definitely higher rated than Seinfeld was.

Completely off topic and not important t at all but just to feel somewhat special and to say I know a celebrity I would like to say that my dad has been in two breaking bad episodes as has the car I learned to drive in.

He is an aspiring extra (he's been in a few other shows but BB is easily the most well known).

Some notables from that list(that I've heard of)
30 Rock,24,Archer,Blue Bloods,Caroline in the City,The Cosby Show,CSI NY,Friends,Futurama,Glee,Gossip Girl. That's just up to G(I got bored naming shows lol)!

I know NYC is viewed as the city the world revolves around, but still...Can't TV SHOWS at least be more original and have shows in more average cities?
And only one of those shows is on TV right now I think, maybe 2. 24 was in LA, not NY, at least for what I've seen so far. I'm sure that if we went through every TV show ever, you would find that LA/SoCal and Chicago are represented at least as often.

Just looking at the most watched US TV series by decade, 80's and up.

                        Dallas - ...Dallas, TX
                        Dynasty - Denver, CO
                        Cosby Show - Brooklyn
                        Roseanne - suburban Chicago
                        Cheers - Boston
                        Seinfeld - NYC
                        ER - Chicago
                        Friends - NYC
                        CSI - Las Vegas

House is also on here which was Princeton, NJ.
Desperate Housewives is a fictional location, but not NY.
NCIS is mostly set in the DC metro area.

Full House was San Francisco. Home Improvement was Detroit. Drew Carey Show was Cleveland. Miami Vice was Miami. Numb3rs was LA. West Wing was DC. I'm just going through shows I have on Netflix or remember watching or my parents watched. Gunsmoke was on TV forever and it wasn't in New York City. Coach was in Minnesota, but they never used a real location I don't think, and Orlando.
                        -----------------------------------
I think you have the situation of where you are looking into buying a car or have bought one, and then you start noticing everyone has one, when you didn't before. But it's only because you actually look for it. You watch shows with NYC and start noticing all these other ones, when in reality, there really aren't any more than you would expect. Obviously there are going to be more shows in NYC than Alaska... which was just Northern Exposure. But it's not like NYC gets used a lot more often than other major cities.

Seeing as Wikipedia does that for us, it's easy to figure out. LA is the only one close to New York, and they're behind by 83 shows, Chicago is behind by 289 shows.
