In big stores that might work, but smaller stores not so much lol. Had it happen to me before, smaller stores someone asked me if I needed help and I told them I'm just looking around, then like 20 seconds later they ask me the same question.

      More stories from Best Buy:

I know a bunch of people that made way more on the side than they did at work. Those Monster-brand cables (HDMI, Component, etc.) that Best Buy would sell for $80 to $100? Well our discount was store cost +5%. For us to buy those cables it was somewhere around... $17 or so when all was said and done.

People would go around to different Best Buys (or ours, depending on who was working) and buy whatever they could find, then sell them on eBay for $50-$75.

This was the 2005-2006 time frame, so I am not sure what their discount is now (if it has changed) but I know our managers (at least the section managers - the regional ones cared a little bit, but not enough to do anything) were alright with it. The unwritten rule was to never take the last couple of them, in case a customer did come in wanting one.

From my understanding, unless the dude was just bull****ting and he does a lot, our new discount is still 5% above value, but no more than 50% off (if that makes senses the way I explained it).

Yep. No one should hate anyone, just the actions they do. I see the term 'I hate people who' used so casually everyday, I don't think people know how big the weight of those words are. I know a lot would disagree on this.

The worst part about the Best Buy philosophy is that no one there is on commission so when they push crazy expensive HDMI none of it is actually going into their pockets. It's do this or don't have a job, so they do what they have to do. I sold many an expensive HDMI cable and it never really bothered me because my livelihood was at risk if I didn't.

Companies like Squaretrade are so much better because of deductible rates, and while they don't cover lost or stolen phones, most people aren't worried about that. And if they do ever need to make a claim, most people don't because the cost is so high. So they pay money for it monthly for no reason. It's sales, and I've been in sales for nearly 6 years so I'm used to it, but most things I felt off-put by I can at least see some value in. When I sell insurance, I always feel like I'm ripping the customer off.
I didn't realize you could buy Squaretrade on a cellphone.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into it.

I've gone up to people and told them not to get a cable that a salesman had just pushed on them. Same with an antenna one time.

Or bug season in general. I remember one summer, I was basically a "bug killer", seemed like every day I was killing some kind of bug. Never because my house was dirty or there was food lying around or anything bugs just find ways in all the time.

Most annoying ones are those one that are like the size of the palm of your hand with all those legs. They run FAST, and their legs move after you kill them....

And those insane times where somehow some flying bug got in my house(likely just got in one day when door was open for abit) killing those are annoying as ever.

Speaking of bugs that fly....Many Summer days around 7-8pm there's ALWAYS like hundreds of bugs flying around together. Not always around my house, but just anywhere in general they seem to come out.

I'm taking a hunch that her name was either Nivea, Aveeno or Noxema.
