I'll present a counter hypothetical. Same situation you just described. I do react, not only do I get on top and start throwing punches, but I follow up with a nasty kick to the face. That kick causes serious brain damage, possibly resulting in death. I didn't mean to do that either, but now I'm going to be charged.

Was it worth it? I'm sure I'd feel I served retribution to someone who deserved it, but the repercussions may have me second guessing the decision.

Not to mention, I wasn't looking at that video from that angle. That's a totally different situation. That guy was clearly a random passerby who decided to get involved. So in his situation, with the same result as I described above, is it worth it? I say hell no.

In his case I think he can easily articulate his actions to defending the woman. The subject violently attacked a female one time and the liklihood of another attack is immenent. I think that fully justifies a kick to the face. Not only that but he stopped too. He then pulled the woman off too to prevent going past the point of defense. All in all he handled himself rather well IMO. I think in a court of law nobody would ever prosecute the kicker.

In the example I provided you there is no articulable reason to hit the person.

I think eventually you trip up and do something bad enough to be in prison for a while, but I would agree with you overall. They do want to rehab rather than turn one mistake into your entire life screwed cause you were in prison 5-10 years.

Is this only assault charges? I don't quite imagine them doing that for drug/substance violations.

People who want to argue just for the sake of arguing. You can say it is snowing outside, they can clearly see it is snowing outside but yet they will say something to contradict what you are saying, just to try to bait you into arguing with them.

I would put them into two categories: marijuana and then everything else

If caught with personal use or even selling marijuana you won't really get hemmed up at all. It'll rarely be a felony. The courts just don't care about it.

The hard drugs the courts still care about and you'll wear a felony just for possession, more than likely.

Prison time for marijuana? LOL yea right.
Prison time for hard drugs? LOL the bond will be a little higher so the poor folks who use them might spend more time after being charged. But they aren't putting people in jail for simple possession of drugs. Probation and drug classes are the two most used resources for drug offenders. Jail/prison is the last resort for drug offenders.

Not only that they passed a new law in NC. Let's say Fresh Tendrils is shooting up heroin and he overdoses. FT's friend sees him do this and calls 911. FT has 100 small balloons of black tar heroin on his person and the police get there and find this additional heroin. (100 is a TON). FT has immunity from legal prosecution on the large amount of heroin found on his person or any drug paraphernalia.

I hear people say there are millions of non-violent petty drug offenders in prison/jail and from my 5 years of experience I will just say I strongly disagree with those people.

This is kinda old but it shows the law, which was passed. It says for small amounts but there has been nothing told to me where there is a certain amount where they lose their immunity. I'm assuming it stands for all amounts, which nothing I have read contradicts.

Not only is it rude to take the last can of Dr. Pepper out of the 12 pack (that I bought, mind you) but leaving the empty box behind is lazy and cruel.

He also pulls this crap with my soy milk. He'll use the last of it and put the empty carton back in the fridge door like an *******. I don't drink cow milk so it's not even like I can be a dick and return the favor either.

He also pulls this **** with leftover pizza. I'll save myself three slices for the next day only to open the box in the morning for breakfast and see ONE piece left. What the **** is one piece of pizza going to do for me? I'll tell you what it's going to do... make me hungry for two more pieces, that's what. And again, I cannot seek revenge for this shady move either as I don't eat meat and his pizzas always have pepperoni, etc. on them.

I know this might not seem like a big deal to some of you, but this **** has been going on for years now and I am fed up. I've lived with this dude for over 16 years now and am at my wits end. He always pays bills on time, etc. but the disrespect with other stuff (the food/drink issue being the last straw) has got to stop. I can't handle it anymore. I fear that I am just going to blow a gasket and throw him through the window.

My girlfriend asked me to move in with her a few months ago and I told her I would think about it (I really don't want to, as I enjoy my freedom) but I'm seriously considering doing it. At least I could live in a clean house again (roommate stopped cleaning up after even himself 2-3 years ago) and not have to hide my food.

Sorry for the rant guys. I'm just so ******* frustrated right now.
You just have to lay the law down and say if you didn't buy it, don't eat it or drink it.

I live with my Fiance and I still get pissed when I buy something to eat and she ends up eating it. I dont know why, but it really pisses me off, but then again I do have anger issues.

Anyways, I say she should at least ask so I know that it's gone. Like 55 said, thinking you have something to eat or drink and not knowing that it's gone is the part that really grinds my gears. If you let me know I could pick up some more or put it on the grocery list.

                      Kick her to the curb.

How dare she eat food that's in the house.

Vague responses to questions. Like if you ask a 2 part question or something like that, and the person is just like "Yes"

I'm talking like serious questions, not those comedy type moments you'll see on TV shows where someone is like "Am I ___ or ___" and someone replies by saying "Yes".

Really annoys me, especially during important questions in text form(email.texts ect.) and it requires me to basically ask the same question again to fully understand what that person meant by their 1-2 word answer. So it might take them a day or two to respond the first time, and another day or two for the 2nd time, So it takes so long just to get an answer to a simple question!

Didn't want to bring it up(since I think I talk about it too much lol) but one example for me is school.

I'll ask a teacher a question through email(since they say to contact them that way) and I'll say something like "Will scenario X or will scenario Y be the case on this upcoming text/exam" and they'll just be like "Yes".....

Yes what? Yes scenario X will be the case, or will it be scenario Y? They can't just be like "Yes, it'll be scenario X" or "Yes, it will be scenario Y".....
