Re: You know what really grinds my gears?
For me, it's not so much about the small stores, but the main ones. Even places like McDonalds doesn't have the prices of their items on their website.Though they at least have all items on their menu on their website. Many places don't even have that. They just have their big items and that's it.
Don't get why food places seriously don't do this, especially a place such as a grocery store. I know prices for grocery stores change every week, but I'm sure it's not that hard just to get someone to update the price whenever it changes.
2014 and people talk about what they think the future will be like in terms of technology...why not focus on today and how many places aren't even up to date on current technology.
Grocery stores I don't think want you to know prices, they want you to get in the store hoping while you are there you will buy everything you need, and some stuff you didn't know you even wanted. Most stores are like this, step one to their business model is getting you in the store and wandering around things you didn't intend to buy. Every store could easily put prices and inventory online, it's all computerized anyway, they are just afraid of the impact on the impulse buy.Comment

A lot of fast food places are like that. I've been to places in the same state and prices were $0.25-$0.50 higher. Wal Mart has the capabilities to reflect current store prices on the internet because they do it with physical items. I'm sure lots of money was spent on research on the decision to not do it with grocery items.Comment

I think I remember you posting about it last year. I'm heading on vacation next week....but when I come back, it's strictly job searching. In my field, this is a good time to try and find something. I'll even take a pay cut at this point.Comment

Oh I didn't leave that job because of this. I left a bar I was working at because of this. I actually gave them three strikes. The pay raise thing was their second strike. Not paying me a promised overtime was the third.

McDonalds doesn't put prices online because every franchise is independently owned and operated, so they can actually set their own prices, if McD corporate set prices online and they were wrong they could be liable for the mistake. Also McD's prices are different in certain regions (i.e. Hawaii and Alaska). There are a lot of McDonalds so a little mistake could mean millions of dollars, there's a lot of laibility there.

They probably figured out it wasn't worth the cost to implement or keep up with. You are probably the first person I've seen that wants to check the price of a large fry at McDonald's before heading out.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was an app to look up the current prices of items at grocery stores that is user submitted.Comment

You should move here. I've seen Packers preseason games lead the news over homicides before. That's actually pretty common whenever the Packers do anything.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn
