Yeah, I guess I'm referring to there either being no spots, or there being no spots in the immediate area (like you'd be walkig another minute).

My train of thought would always be: "All you gotta do is eek out of the spot. It's rude." Haha.

Back in the day, I would happily be the other guy. If a car was looking for a spot, I would gesture to where my car is so they'd know that I'd be quick and will zoom out if needed (remember, I reverse into spots so it's a quick getaway haha). I feel like a hero in those moments, though they'll never see me again.

I don't go to many places where the lot would be completely packed BUT if I do find myself in that situation I would absolutely give up my spot ASAP.

What I can't STAND is people who see someone walking to their car and decide to slowly follow them and then sit there while they unload their groceries all while blocking all traffic.


I also do what Caufield does though and if a car is following me while I'm walking I'll dart over to another aisle so the car stops following me.


So I guess, my gear grinder is drivers blocking all traffic while waiting for a car to back out of the spot they are in.

That's how I am now with my new car. I will happily go to the end of the lot if it means getting a spot ASAP, not getting dinged, and not being under trees. I have more of a habit of doing that now than anything else these days.



Okay, there was this weird time that I bought these two stools at Costco and I stupidly decide to bring my Civic instead of the family minivan, and I was literally in the back row of the Costco (which was no doubt a packed house). I was visibly having a lot of trouble finding a way to ideally get them fitting in my car while a car was waiting for me. It took me like eight minutes in total, but all the meanwhile I kept signaling toward the person: "Look bruh, find another spot. There is a big chance I might have to go back into the store if I can't fit this." No dice, they just stuck it out.



Quite the troopers, but they really could have found anybody else leaving during that span.

One grocery store I go to has the best parking lot for this. There's parking at the front and side of the building. Everyone parks at the front, as close as they can to the entrance. I find a spot closer to the side. Barely anyone ever goes there and you're not walking through the lot since you walk along the building, away from cars. The side parking along the building is actually closer to the entrance than probably half of the spots at the front.


And most recent time I can remember where someone was waiting for my spot was one time where I parked between 2 big vans unfortunately not realizing how little space I had, especially when one was on the line.

The spot was near the end of the aisle, so it was hard enough trying to get out of that spot, but someone having their car almost blocking me from reversing out the way I felt most comfortable in a literally tight situation was annoying.

2. People crossing the street who don't realize they're crossing the street. I'm sure everyone's dealt with those pedestrians who don't even bother looking when crossing and just out of nowhere decide to cross. I honestly wonder if these people ever realize they were literally seconds away from possibly dying, and its very likely happened on multiple occasions. Or ones who stand by the curb, have time to cross, don't, so you think they're not crossing afterall, but as soon as your car is about to drive off, they suddenly start crossing.

I feel like people do this on purpose

I've gotten to the point where if I'm turning right on red, and there are pedestrians to my right, I don't care if traffic is clear, I'm waiting for the signals to turn, let everyone go, and then make my turn.

I'm not risking a lawsuit because I legally turned right on red, and mid turn the signal turned and the walk light is up, and I'm somehow at fault for legally turning and the pedestrians are just absentmindedly crossing as soon as they see the signal, regardless of the vehicle in front of them legally turning

Similarly, that's why I also park further away. I hate parking in a high traffic area (as in lots of cars driving past or worse, people walking almost against a cars bumper not even realizing the engine is on and if the car moved even an inch, it would hit you). I just go to a less crowded area. I'll take the extra 15 second walk over dealing with someone stalking me and my car waiting for the spot rather than park 10 spots down, or trying to drive/reverse out of a spot only to have person after person walk right infront of your car.

You know how the WiFi symbol on your phone is 3 bars making a kind of signal / fan shape.

How come if it’s not at a full 3, **** just doesn’t work. Not just slow, straight up won’t load.

Another driving gear grinder, this time about pedestrians.

1. When someone is parked on a one way street (or just any street with narrow space), they open the door to their car...and leave it open. Like they'd open it, and regardless if they got out or not, they just leave it open.

Or get out of the car, doors open, they're standing in the road talking to someone and couldn't care less that a car is coming. Yes technically theres space to pass, but you have to drive almost against the curb on the other side to squeak past them as they stand there staring you down being like "you have space". I don't care if I technically have space, why are you standing in the middle of the road talking to someone when you clearly see a car coming?

I encounter this all the time. It's like they think it's ok to just step off the sidewalk into moving traffic. What ever happened to the "Look both ways before crossing the street" rule? At least look up from your ****ing phone ,IDIOT!. I swear some day I'm not going to hit the brakes. I have literally had to skid to avoid hitting one of these nut jobs. I'm going 30 MPH and they just step into the crosswalk like it has a force field around it and the traffic light is GREEN!!!!

I encounter this all the time. It's like they think it's ok to just step off the sidewalk into moving traffic. What ever happened to the "Look both ways before crossing the street" rule? At least look up from your ****ing phone ,IDIOT!. I swear some day I'm not going to hit the brakes. I have literally had to skid to avoid hitting one of these nut jobs. Crosswalk ones are the worst because sometimes people would push the button, sometimes they dont.

I see people crossing at a crosswalk without pushing the button. Like what's the point of waiting until that spot to cross if you're not even gonna bother utilizing the reason a crosswalk is there?

Or ones who out of nowhere press it. Anytime I see someone within a few feet of the crosswalk I slow down because some people just push it without looking at the road. Their back could be away from the road and suddenly they push the button and turn around and start crossing, all in one motion without waiting a second to make sure people stopped.

I've probably gone through a crosswalk or two by accident because someone pressed the button so suddenly when I was right there and had no time to react. Or the lights flashing from someone who crossed 10 seconds earlier so the next person doesn't bother pushing the button again, and crosses when the light already went off.

2. People who exit a store, then proceed to just blindly start walking in front of cars without even looking.

If the parking spaces are slanted intending drivers to only really go in that lane in one direction, some drivers are going the unintended direction in there.
