automatic flush toilets at places like such as Walmart. I need time to stand up, turn around and examine my business, for you know, health reasons. yeah, that's the ticket. maybe I should have posted this in the quirky things you do thread. or OS needs a TMI thread

      Definitely TMI.

Although when automatic flushing censors first came to fruition in many public facilities, I first thought they were little cameras where there was a headquarters monitoring the toilets to flush them for you. You also have to remember I was a relatively young pup, heh.

Accidently hitting the @ button on my phone's keyboard while typing out a comment on tapatalk, and suddenly being transported to an alternate dimension. Not only of sight and sound but of mind.

When I buy a bag of mixed vegetables (Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots) to snack on and the broccoli and cauliflower are fine but the carrots are all slimy. Bought the bag Sunday and the sell by date was 9/3.

Overcooking a steak by accident. Bought some tri tip, tried searing it in a pan and then throwing it in the oven, and it went from an internal temp of 120 to 150 so damn quick. Combination of cooking it on the pan too long and it being a leaner type of cut I'm not used to preparing. Still feels dumb to cook a steak to medium well, even though I know there are people who like it that way.

Overcooking a steak is one of the worst possible things to do. Just ruins my dinner.

                        Planned obsolescence.

My phone is 3 years old which is on the longer end. It worked perfectly fine, I couldn’t notice any significant battery degradation or slow down in performance. Fantasy football season rolls around and I gotta get the ESPN fantasy sports app for it. Except it won’t install on my outdated iOS.

What choice did I have? The ESPN fantasy website on mobile was utter trash so the app was the only way to stay on top of things. It’s a competitive league!

So I updated. Now if I’m using my phone beyond firing off a simple text or something, it crashes. Like right now listening to music while typing this out on the OS app, and doing a google search in a browser, it’s crashed like 5 times. Exactly why I skipped updates once my phone was a certain age. I guess I got my money’s worth out of the phone, just wack that the actual hardware is fine it’s the software that’s causing issues. And it’s not even like the most recent iOS or any of the apps contain some major advancement.

I was thinking about this the other day while mowing. Some good trains of thought come through the station while I'm doing that.

Anyway, I basically came to the realization that most consumer products are "built to last" on a five year maximum life. I was thinking about kitchen appliances. We've been in our house 5 years this past Spring. We've replaced everything in the kitchen except the microwave and dishwasher. Meanwhile, my parents are looking to "upgrade" their kitchen (again) and the in-laws typically swap out some major appliance every year, but they basically have new everything since I came into the picture 7 years ago.

The phones is a definite gear grinder. It can hold a charge, have a great signal and then the very next day it just turns to ****.

Don't get my started on clothes. I have two pairs of flat front shorts that are perfectly fine except the zipper jumped the tracks and I'm not going to invest anymore time trying to get it fixed when I can buy a new pair for $10-15.

Then not to mention the stuff that is really perfectly fine apart from being "old" and not new anymore. I wonder how much perfectly fine "old stuff" is taking up space in the landfills and waste centers.

                          God bless Capitalism.

My wife and I were walking around the Outlet Mall in Hagerstown for shoes and we came across baby shoes waiting for a lady to move from in front of the shoes my wife wanted to look at..

How the hell do they get away with charging MORE for a piece of plastic that covers my big toe than for my wife's shoes?

Talk about taking advantage of people.
