I have heard of Bachelors grove but growing up in Berwyn the closest I ever got to it was Haunted Trails on 79h and Harlem. You would think as haunted as Bachelors Grove is it would be right up there with Ressurection Mary.

Ressurection Mary! I have heard many scary *** stories from so many people of having the experience of picking her up thinking its a hitchhiking woman.

Another story, my one brothers godparents live right across the street from Ressurection Cemetary in the apartments (Justice). One winter night (snow had fallen), my brothers godfather was coming home late at night from work. He parks his car in the back parking lot and walks to the front to enter the building. By the tree, he said that he saw a girl sitting in front of the tree and she was dressed in a white dress. He asks her if he can help her out. She doesn't say anything so he goes walking towards the front door and goes upstairs to his apt. He goes to the balcony to take a look if that girl was still out there, he looks outside and she was gone.

My wife and a bunch of friends have gone to Ressurection Cemetary plenty of times at night and around Halloween. The cops always spend the entire week leading to Halloween patrolling the cemetary.

Plus the Greek church is over there too which I have been to in the past. Illinois is one haunted state.

One more story for the night. We went with a bunch of old friends to the Country House Restaurant in Clarendon Hills, IL. This restaurant is excellent and they have some of the best burgers that I have ever eaten, especially their Buffalo and Ostrich burgers.

Well, the restaurant is haunted by a woman that was killed in a car accident in front of the bar at the time. One night when we were leaving, I look at the windows on the second floor of the restaurant and see this woman starring at me. It creeped me out big time, everytime I have driven past the restaurant no matter what I saw that night, I can't help but always look.

When we were in the restaurant, we didn't hear any noises, but it was also loud as hell with customers.

No kidding, a ouija board is actually something people who don't know what they are doing can get in serious trouble with. You are just blindly calling spirits and there is a very good chance one will answer that you don't want to have around.

One of my first experiences with a ghost came when I was at Saint Michael's College. My junior year I lived in Founders Hall, which I have seen several stories about looking online, which also made me feel better after my experience. Around October three students died in a car accident, two lived in Founders Hall, within a week activity started. It started innocently enough, I would go to shower and my door would lock while I was gone. I always checked it before I left, but no big deal.

From there it escalated, within about a week my window would start opening and then slamming itself shut. From there the television would turn itself off and on, sometimes while I watched, but more often than not it would turn itself on in the middle of the night at an absurd decibel level, definitely not what I ever had it at. I would then begin to feel as if I was being watched at all times in my room, and then it culminated when I woke up and saw an extremely large black mass sitting on my chair staring at me. Then after that encounter it just left, never to be heard of (by me) again. Perhaps the strangest thing, well most comforting thing is I saw this story on some ghosts site about the same Dorm that I didn't post. Hell, I had only shared the story with like 2 people as it was. So someone else had a near identical experience on the same floor, and I am presuming same room. There were times I'd drive by dorm at night when the building was closed for the summer and the light to my old room would be on.

As for the dorm, there was a rumor that decades ago some students did something similar to what Jistic mentioned doing and let something really nasty into the dorm, that caused the school to permanently lock off the area. The campus legend was that someone drew a pentagram into the floor that would reappear after the school removed it. Who knows on that though.

            Re: Ghost stories etc...

When you see apparitions and other paranormal things what is happening is the energy form some source such as power lines or prehaps the magneitc field from the earth is interacting with the neurons in the brain to manifest an altered state of consciousness. Your consiouness is really electromagnetic energy produced inside firing neurons that not only stores information but it also binds the brain and mind.

When the hydrogen atoms in lipids and other large molecules rotate they produce a local magnetic field. If the molecules are randomly oriented the local fields tend to cancel out, but in the brain they are oriented in ion channels in the neurons such that the magnetic fields combine. The brain has billions of neurons so informantion can be transported quickly through this electromagnetic wave. So ghosts are not real but they seem real because the brain due to some external energy in the environment undergoes a change to an altered state of consciousness.

Mr. Presenger did some research on this a while back and he was able to manifest paranormal experiences in people with a machine. They would see things like ghosts, the virgin Mary, Buddah, family members who had died etc. Some people are more predisposed to paranormal experiences due to their brain structure.

So how does this explain objects moving while not being touched by anything visible to the naked eye?

They are probably not moving and only appear to be moving. The mind is capable of some really incredible things. There are people who have out of body experiences who can see things near them while the body is unconscious and the eyes are closed.

One ghost story that I read about a few years ago involved five people who were in a house that has a reputation for hauntings. All five were in the same room when an apparition appeared yet only three saw it. There were noises that only the same three heard.

One party we had while in college someone brought a ouija board. They played around all night with it however I didnt pay attention to what they were doing. The next morning my 2 roommates were at work (we all worked at Wal-Mart while going to school) I woke up and saw the ouija board sitting next to his 40 gallon fishtank. In the fishtank were all his fish floating dead. I quickly showered and took the ouija board to Wal-mart and gave it back to the person that brought it. He went to the store where he got the fish and asked them how they could of all died - they told him that it may of been something with the planets and it affecting the water or something. I say it was the evil ouija board.

                          That is enough right there...lol
Yah I goofed on the story - it was actually my Grandmothers brother. My mom told me today that after that happened she was sleeping and woke up to hear the backdoor from the kitchen to the enclosed porch (but not the door from the porch to the outside) open and close and then she heard footsteps from the kitchen to the living room. When she investigated nobody was there. (this happened before I was born)

This isn't a ghost its more of an alien story, but it could have been a ghost, too. It was some type of figure..anyway..This was a female acquaintance of ours..

Her and her husband were out at the bar. They came home and they were sleeping, or trying to sleep. She was been awaken by her husband snoring. So she decided to get out her camera phone and record him snoring to show him tomorrow how loud he was being. Well she showed me what she captured, you can see a figure walking on the other side of their bed with a bigger head and then a little flash and he was gone. Really freaky..
