Same here no matter what man. My car is always locked. I could go home, park in the driveway and know that I just need to run in get something and leave again, my car is locked.

I see what you're saying... my g/f's family does this with their home sometimes. I'm trying to drill it in their heads not to do this... but...

They have some former professional thief go to people's houses and rob them. I can't find a video on youtube but try to watch it on Discovery.

They have a former thief scope out a house...the host talks to the owners about safety, etc (also get permission). Then a week or so later the pro thief breaks in and loads up his van with stuff, somewhat trashing the house in the process. They tape it all, show the owners, and watch them freak out and cry.

Then they fix everything, put in alarms, locks, whatever, and give them the stuff back. At the end the pro thief shows it wouldn't be easy to get in anymore.

From being a cop I'm so secure I'm almost paranoid.

- I have a lock on my gate on the side of my house.
- I have plastic pipe that I cut and have in all the sliding windows and door.
- I have an alarm system.
- I have motion lights in the driveway and backyard.
- I have a 85 lb German Shepherd which lives outside and roams the garage/backyard at night.
- I have reinforced door strikes on my front and garage doors. They replace the normal part that the door clicks into with a piece of steel that is 2 inches long with 2 inch long screws. Makes it very hard to do a door kick.
- I also lock my truck every night, have an alarm, and use the club every time I park it.
- I also keep on my porch light every night all night.

Since I take burglary/stolen car reports all week long I've seen what havoc scumbags can cause. I tell every single person I come into contact with, the best things you can do are lock your gates, put motion lights in your backyard, and put some sort of bar in your sliding glass door. Burglars hate having to climb over gates/walls, they hate lights, and they hate having to work to get into a house.

how do the motion lights work? Is it something that works with your current lights ??? Hard to install? I was thinking of doing that around our house.

They were quite easy. I have no electrician ability what so ever and it only took me a little while to install. I bought them all at Home Depot. They come in a variety of styles to match your house style/color/etc. The driveway ones I bought are decorative, the backyard one is just a motion detector with the two floods, one on each side.

Just flipped the power off for the section I was working on. Unhooked the lights that were standard on the house. Then connected the wires back up to the motion lights, affixed them to the house, and flipped the power back on. Then you can set sensitivity, range, and how long they stay on. There is usually a test feature so even during the day you can walk around and see where it picks you during the install. Mine in the backyard is in a L shape corner so it hits on anybody that would come around either corner. In the front they cover the driveway, a little into the street, and the corner of my house. I have them set for 3 minutes in the front, and 1 minute in the backyard.

I would recommend them to anyone who wants a little extra security around the house, as well as instant light when you pull into the driveway when it's dark.

I woke up today with my car stolen. I live in a place for 25 years were you dont have to lock your doors at night. I cant believe this ****. I cant believe my car was robbed? Times are changing, I have to lock up everthing from here on out.

that sucks did you report it stolen. better do that before they use it to commit a crime, or before they get into a hit and run accident.

if you don't you might end up a prime susp for a crime you did not commit
