To start:
In high school I pitched against both C.C. Sabathia (Vallejo High School) and Dustin Pedrioa (Woodland High School).
I pitched against C.C. my junior year (1998) and faced him one time. I walked him on 4 pitches via the unintentional / intentional walk. He didn't pitch that game, but played first base. The only thing I remember about him was just how effortless everything came to him. Whether he was fielding grounders, digging balls out of the dirt or swinging the bat, everything was smooth.
In an earlier game, he went deep off of our team's ace two times and both were 400'ers. The remodeled the Vallejo High School field when he was there and it was a bit of a cracker jack park, but his shots were no doubters.
The following year (my senior year - 1999) our team played against Pedroia for the section championship (2 out of 3). In California, the section is as far as the baseball playoffs go. His team was heavily favored for the game. Earlier in the season, their team threw three straight no hitters (they were in SI for it) and one of them was against us in a game in which they won 1-0. Before the series, they were on the local news basically saying that they should have no problem beating us as they handled us before. We swept the series in two close games. I don't remember what Pedroia did off of me in the first game, though. He was playing SS and made an unbelievable back hand play on a high chopper that he was charging and threw one of our guys out at first. Even though we won the series, they showed that highlight on the news.
Later that summer, he was playing for a Legion or Connie Mack team up in Reno. I remember one of the games we played was a wood bat game and he hit two opposite field bombs with a woody.
In College, I played against Connor Jackson. I pitched earlier in the week and didn't even suit up for the game, but looking at the box score, he played 3rd base and went 3-6.
