Re: So, I fainted last night...

I remember being in the bathroom once feeling dizzy and then waking up passed out on the floor. I'm not sure how long I was out, but I remember the moments before passing out very vividly. I'm not sure why it happened, but it was the only time I ever experienced something like that.

I almost fell in the shower before, but that's because I enjoyed the hot water so much, I fell asleep.

Re: So, I fainted last night...

I had the same feeling a few weeks ago. I was just standing there and I got really lightheaded. I felt like I was going to vomit and just fall over. Luckily I was down showering and was just standing there in the hot water, so I hopped out and basically just flopped over onto my couch(nude). I just laid there for a few minutes, then got up and got dressed.

I guess I just got really overheated and it made me feel lightheaded. Because once I laid down on the couch and cooled off, I felt fine.

Luckily no one was home. It wouldn't have been good to have someone walk downstairs and see me sprawled out nude on our couch.

Re: So, I fainted last night...

I know the feeling man, it sucks.

The first day after I got home from the hospital after my back surgery, I decided to take a shower because I hadn't showered for a week and it was disgusting. So, I took a shower in my mom's office/room/whatever, just in case something happened there would be someone close by. So I get done with the shower ok, and then I dry myself off and I began to feel dizzy. So I tell my mom to get the vomit bucket that the hospital gave me, so she got that, and then as I was about to throw up (or what felt like throwing up) I blacked out. When I woke up, I was on the floor of the bathroom and my head was bleeding a little. Luckily for me, my mom was able to somewhat break my fall, and in a way it was better that my head hit the ground than my back, because I have no idea what would've happened had my back gotten ****ed up a week after my surgery. It sucked for the next like 2-3 days because both my back and my head hurt.

            Hope you feel better.

I must have the brain of a 12 year old, I saw this thread, and I immediately read "So, I farted last night". Yay, good going! I did 20 seconds ago as well.

I have never passed out, although i felt close to it a number of times. An ex gf used to pass out rather frequently. They never did figure out what caused it. She passed out driving one time and flipped her truck. Lucky she had her seat belt on.

                Anyway get well soon Blzr.

As I was going to wash my face, I started getting that dizzy feeling that you get when you rise from a lay-down position too quickly. I thought it would just go away, but it didn't... it worsened. Within that 30 - 45 second span or so, I just kept talking to myself... trying to regain composure. I was thinking to myself, "No way you are going to pass out. That's impossible. That's a myth. There's no reason for me to pass out, and this isn't how it starts." I leaned against the shower wall with my forearm and forehead, trying to focus, when suddenly I wake up, lying on the ground, tepid water splashing my face, and my legs sticking out of the stall from underneath the drapes.

I shot up quickly, hoping nobody caught me lying there, when I suddenly realized: "... I just fainted!" I then felt major pain in the back of my head and tasted blood in my mouth. I spit it out, turned off the shower, grabbed my towel, ran out of the stall and bathroom and into the dorm hall where there were some other people. Feeling dizzy again, I faintly yelled, "Somebody help... I just passed out in the shower!" Then I fell again (due to imbalance this time), and stayed there till the police and paramedics came.

So, that's the story. They didn't bother with a CAT scan because I vividly recall the incident, but that doesn't mean I didn't suffer a concussion. The official diagnosis is "syncope", which, if you Wiki it, I'm sure you'll find out what it is. Basically, I was in the same condition as someone that faints because of seeing their own blood getting drawn out with a needle, only from a different cause. I was in the hospital for five hours, with an initial heart rate of 90 BPM with an instant decrease to 60 BPM. That was the most alarming issue to them... making sure nothing was wrong with my heart. Thankfully, nothing was. Unfortunately, the worst trauma is to my head, and I'm going to serve almost all of Wednesday night in my bed... with the exception of food and bathroom breaks.

Fainting is weird. You feel like you skipped a beat in something. You don't ever quite notice that you fell asleep or you woke up, but at the same time, you knew that time passed by. I can vividly recall everything that happened in my mind, even though I may not be able to describe it all. Waking up was the ultimate weirdest feeling in it all, however. Again, it can't be explained, but it wasn't a good feeling, knowing that I hit the back of my head on the floor without anything breaking my fall. Have you guys ever passed out/seizured before?

Wish me luck in getting better! I hope to God nothing like this ever happens again.
I have been diagnosed with neurocardigenic syncope. I think you just have had an episode (as I didn't read that you had this happen to you before). I am one of the lucky ones who had it happen several times, mostly as a kid. Then junior year, we were watching a pretty hardcore movie in psychology and I wasn't really interested. Everything started to get slower and such and I just decided it was because it was the morning and my brain started going all weird on me, next thing I know I feel like I am hearing music all around. Then, I black out in the middle of class, and smack my head on the steel part of the desk next to me, I come to and have no idea what the hell is going on. Luckily my Psych teacher knew everything to do, including telling me not to try to walk, as when I stood up I pretty much was barely able to sit down without falling. All of this was infront of about 30 people. The next day I hear all this talk that I died and such. I went into the doctors and we figured neurocardiogenic syncope was the cause (basically the brain and the heart do not coordinate well about blood pressure, causing a bit of a problem), and I was put on medication (Toprol to lower my blood pressure, which isn't my problem it just helps control the condition). Well, I felt horrible most of the time while on it... still kind of do. I went on another drug which basically knocks out a lot of the side effects, but that ended up giving me some not so great side effects, so I quit that. I wouldn't really say things have gotten better for me in terms of how I feel on a day to day basis, but I haven't fainted since then so that is a plus, however the Toprol only stops me from fainting, not all the feelings that come before it, so I still think I will faint half of the time. I've gone through all the motions at the hospital with tests and stuff, and it isn't fun, especially during one test my heart actually stopped (however that is how they confirm the diagnosis, and they somehow bring you back, I can't remember as I passed out).

I realize there are lots of things you could get worse than that, but I just hope that you don't have the long term one like mine that should take another 5 years or so for my body to fix itself.

Hope things are going good for you.

Man, my bloodpressure is a crapshoot whenever I've gone into the doctors for testing. One time at the hospital they had to call in other doctors because it was too low and it was dangerous, another time they thought it was so astronomically high for what it should be they had to call the doctors...

I also take abnormally long showers... maybe there is something to this lol.

                      Thanks, again.

Yeah, to people that have had similar experiences, just... like, I keep thinking about it and revisiting it in my head. Every time I think about it, the entire feeling is still there. I completely remember how I felt before, during, and after. When I say I felt like there was time passed but not forgotten or whatever, during that time, I sort of thought I was still standing, leaning over, but thinking about regaining composure. Then I remember that I had some sort of flash dream, and I've been thinking really hard as to what it was, but I can't remember. Next thing was me waking up, but not yet opening my eyes or focusing. I was just thinking that I woke up from my bed, but it didn't feel like it. Once I opened my eyes, it all just felt very... unreal. I never thought I would wake up laying down in a shower stall. To anybody that felt this before, you probably know how I feel. It's just so scary to actually know that it happened; I don't know why I keep thinking about it, though. I guess I just never knew what it felt like, and I never thought it would happen to me.

My head is my biggest concern at the moment, though. I was in the "handicap" shower stall, so they had handle bars on two of the three walls (the other side has the drapes). So, anyway, I woke up on the "side" wall, and my legs were sticking out of the stall underneath the drapes. The wall my head was against had a handle bar there, so I could have hit that before hitting the floor also. Whatever I hit, the pain surely won't go away.

I could remember being scared of my mind on two occasions, the one i described before, and then one when I was a kid. I was at church in an aisle seat, and apparently had fainted right in the middle of church and they had to call an ambulance and everything. Still don't like going to church now because of it.
