Contact Lenses
I've recently started wearing contacts and I love them, but I'm really having trouble putting them in. Taking them out isn't a problem for me, but it takes me forever to get them in and most of the time I'll just say **** it and wear my glasses, but I hate wearing glasses for basketball. Any tips?Tags: None -
Re: Contact Lenses
Honestly, it's never easy for a first time wearer. I have friends that have been wearing them for years and still can't get it right. Took me a few months before I could pop them in and out with no problem. I just stopped wearing contacts because my eyes don't seem to produce enough moisture and I ended up getting cuts in my eyes because of dryness.
Anyway, my best advice is to just keep trying. It really helps if you look up and place the contact on the lower portion of the eye, then blink to fit it into place."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Contact Lenses
Just keep trying, and try not to get frustrated. The first week or so is the hardest, then it'll get easier. I recommend try sitting down, in front of a mirror. I only wore glasses for a couple years, and hated it. Been wearing contacts for about 6 months now, and absolutely love it.Comment

Re: Contact Lenses
If you're old enough, check out Lasik....best investment I've ever made.
If you're not, then practice taking them out & putting them in a couple times a day. Here's how they taught me:
- Use your hand to make a gun (like you're pointing at someone with your thumb up)
- Then bring your hand to your eye and use your index finger to push your eyelash up, then use your 2nd finger to pull the bottom of your eye down.
- Then put the contact in using the index finger of your other handComment

Re: Contact Lenses
The trick I did when I first got mine, after being late to school for a week, lol, is to look directly at your finger as you put them in, and resist the urge to blink immediately. I know its hard but just keep at it, don't give up.University of Oregon

Re: Contact Lenses
It's hard at first, believe me. But once you get used to it, it's a breeze. I've worn them for 4 years now and I don't even think about it when putting them in. I just "plop" them in.Comment
