    Re: Leaving Gamestop

Well from what i understand about the pre-orders is that stores get shipments of the new games based on pre-orders. If that store gets a ton of COD4 pre-orders then they'll get more non reserver copies to sell aswell. IF a store gets very low COD4 pre-orders then they'll get less to sell to the walk-in customers too.. Some stores will push the pre-orders hardcore based to this. Honestly though, if they only asked once then it wouldn't be a problem but when they shove the pre-orders and subscriptions down your throat its very annoying to the point of wanting to shop else where.

there is a GS near me that has been known to "underhand" some pre-orders (like giving away a reserved copy to a non-preorder --my friend actually witnessed this about a year ago

Just thought that I would share.

And how does preordering not keep your options open? If you find it somewhere else then buy it there and just switch your preorder to some other game. I've done that many times and it's no problem.

I understand that for obscure games but a game like COD is not going to be understocked, no matter how many preorders they did or didn't get.

I pre-order because it helps develop a relationship with the employees and manager. They see me as a loyal customer, and this has paid off in the past. One Gamestop held a PS3 for me, which I promptly sold on ebay for $1200 profit.

Also, preordering ensures I don't spend all my money at Starbucks. I regularly pay off games well in advance of their release.

However, I definitely understand Gamestop making people mad. There's one in my town I won't go into at all because they are way too pushy.

Was just using COD as an example but year, the really big games like COD, Madden, Halo, ect. then they'll have plenty of copies.

Is NCAA by EA "obscure"? Because once I wasn't able to get it on release day and then a couple years later my friend didn't preorder and neither was he. It does occur with bigger titles as well. Sure you may only be out of luck for one day but hey, it's a day!

Sweet, that sounds like a great opportunity. I love my hours. 8-3PM Monday-Friday and about 60 days off a year.

Good for you bro. Gamestop has turned to utter **** and they continue to employ so many that have no clue about gaming that it is horrible trying to talk games with some of these people at times.

I know what you mean, but as a former EB Games employee from '97-99, the **** that these guys do and get away with now wasn't tolerated back then.
