I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: Leaving Gamestop
I sent a 7 page letter to the president of Gamestop, Steve Morgan, to tell him what I thought about the company and their business practices and their lack of ethics, respect for the customers, and Gamestops lack of respect for its employees.
He hasn't replied yet.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: Leaving Gamestop
Well, I got a response. And all he did was say the same thing that was preached to me the day I started. The only thing he said that didn't seem like it was scripted was that maybe I wasn't "Gamestop material" and that I need to "learn the basics of business".
What a joke.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: Leaving Gamestop
Sounds like sour grapes on their part. No worries....it definitely sounds like this is a positive change for you. Always best to move forward rather than look back ---- best of luck to you in your new job!"And by the way, you know, when you're telling these little stories? Here's a good idea - have a POINT. It makes it SO much more interesting for the listener!"Comment

Re: Leaving Gamestop
LMAO, which means maybe you want a career and a future! And Gamestop is not that! lol It is all about money in the end. Every thing is about money. That is what makes the world go around. I love my job at J hall and we make OK money, but the schedule and 180 day contact kick ***. So most things out there want to care about people, but money is what it is really about.Last edited by Scottdau; 12-19-2007, 06:13 PM.Comment

Re: Leaving Gamestop
I think preordering is stupid as well. I want to be able and walk into the store and get my game when I want to. Any place that says you have to put an additional $5-10 down to "guarantee your copy" is just stealing money from you. Even the most coveted games I've been able to walk into a store and just pick up off the shelf.Taking off my dev hat and putting my consumer hat on... I have a simi-related question for you all.
First off, I try and buy my games at some type of game centric store when at all possible. That said, I'm REALLY getting sick of the pre-order or don't get the game syndrome that seems to be plaguing "us". I flat out refuse to place a single pre-order and as much as it boggles the girl at Gamestop I somehow feel that I am making a stand. A itty bitty stand, but a stand nonetheless.
So where do you guys stand on pre-orders? A necessary evil? Corporate evil not wanting to take any risk actually stocking games? Good for the industry? I mean really, when was the last time you pre-ordered a pair of shoes? Perhaps you pre-order your groceries too?
Oh, and you're welcome for having your thread totally derailed countryboy =P

Plus it once happened to my brother where he preordered a game, went to the store to pick it up at which point they explained that it had sold out but they would be receiving more copies in a few days. There was no offer to refund his "guarantee" money or anything.Lux y VeritasComment
