Personally I think Sam is very overrated, I don't know too many people who like it outside of my father. A few of their darker beers are pretty good, but their staples (lager, light, Octoberfest) are blah to me. Strange thing is I loved their Octoberfest 4-5 years ago, but then one year Autumn came around, I bought myself a 12 pack of it and it tasted like crap. I don't know if they changed something or my taste buds did a 180.

BTW, this thread has got me salivating for a damn beer, I cannot wait to hit up the packy on the way home and get the weekend started.

It's not overrated to me because I don't get as bad a hangover as I do from the other vodka brands like Smirnoff, Absolut, etc. To each their own my friend.

Taste tests are overrated as well. I also saw a taste test where people picked NY city tap water as tasting better than bottled water. It doesn't mean I'm going to start drinking tap water over bottled water.

Yeah, personally I don't drink it...was never a big vodka drinker.

I prefer my rums or whiskeys. I'll basically drink any kind of rum...though Captain's is my favorite because it actually tastes good in my opinion.

Southern Comfort was my favorite last year, but I haven't had it since last spring. Need to get myself a bottle of that....

...well, need to have someone get me a bottle of that.

I like some of the less common Sams like the Cream Stout and Black Lager but I've definitely soured on the seasonals. I still like the regular Sam Boston Lager but that's the only one I drink.

I usually choose a Harpoon over Sam these days.

I use to do the Belvedere some years ago before it got all famous on me and what not. lol But I had to put it down. For some reason it did something to my "attitude". I used to believe that was BS but Belv and Tanqeuray changed my personality so I don't drink those at all unless it's like one or two drinks the most. A man gotta know his limitations.

Actually that is not a fair comparison because NY has some of the best tap water in the US. So that wouldn't surprise me in the least. Try drinking the "city rum" here in NJ and you'll run back to NY for a glass of tap. lol. Bottled water does have "a taste" to it that NY's tap doesn't have.

Well I'm going to pick up some of that Dogfish if I can find it. I'll give it a try.

Why does everyone have SoCo but me?

Do you drink it straight on the rocks, Squint, or mix it with something?

I have my Captain's and Coke to get me through this weekend...but I need a bottle of SoCo now.

If I didn't have a soccer game, I'd drink my bottle of SoCo now just to taunt you.

                            Re: Budwieser: Not all that

There was a time when I could drink Bud, Miller Lite and other popular brews and enjoy them. Not any more. The more I've researched beer and developed my palate my tastes have changed dramatically. I really can't stand Budweiser now. Aside from Sam Adams (and all its variations) I do not like many of the popular beers available in most supermarkets. Sam Adams is great though. Amber Bock is also quite tasty.

A list of my current favorite brews:

                            - Newcastle
                            - Dale's Pale Ale
                            - Sierra Nevada (anything from them)
                            - Dogfish Head (anything from them)
                            - Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout (sooooo damn good)
