Interesting, I'm guessing most states allow smoking in restaurants and bars eh? I've been to some in the US and it really bugs me. It's not because i'm one of those cigarette nazis, far from it as I don't really care but here in Toronto we don't allow it and it really makes for a much better dining experience in restaurants.

Her asthma was poorly controlled. She had made four visits to her doctor in the year before her death for flare-ups, and had been treated in a hospital emergency department two to three times that year.

Although she had prescriptions for an assortment of drugs to prevent and treat asthma attacks, she was reported to only use them when she was having breathing difficulty.

On the evening of her death, she had no inhaler with her.
Sounds to me like the cause of death had more to do with being irresponsible.

That's true but it does go to show that 2nd hand smoke can be a hazard. I mean do you like having to take in wafts of cigarette smoke when you're eating or drinking?

There is a state wide ban in Minnesota that has been in effect since October. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I cannot stand it when someone smokes while I am eating. It really ruins my meal experience, not to mention it gives me a near instant headache.

Whenever theyre there puffing out their gaseous ****, take solace in the fact that theyll die earlier than you will.

I think the restaurants and bars should be able to decide if they want to allow smoking or not but I don't believe the state should get involved in it.

I'm not a cigarette smoker, but I don't have a problem with them smoking in public.

no matter whether the cause was second hand smoke or that she didn't have her inhaler or both, the fact of the matter is that a young woman lost her life.

                    Its sad.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I have little doubt that it can be a hazard. I just have a problem with trying to make this individual some type of martyr against second hand smoke when the circumstances hardly warrant it.

As for your question, I prefer a non-smoking environment if available but don't have any objections if it's not. This coming from someone who smoked for nearly a decade prior to quitting, so take it for what it's worth.

Not according to Snepp... Since she accidentally left her inhaler at home, it's her fault. D'oh.

I usually just avoid smokers. #1 because I have mild asthma and #2 Even if I didn't the smell and potential endless coughing would drive me away
