The cop went to confiscate the kids skateboard after everything you wrote out, not "blow his fuse for no reason," and the kid refused to give it to him, hence the struggle. The cop told the kid to sit down so he wouldn't try and reach for the skateboard and the kid once again, tried to get up.

Do I agree with the cop pushing him down a second time? No. Did the cop "assault a 100 pound kid who didn't do anything?"



Yeah, that's exactly what he did.

At least his friends were smart enough to shut up. They shouldn't have been skating there to begin with. Am I wrong about that? Does that justify the cops actions? No. Heelfan said it best.... 2 wrongs.

But yeah, the kid is completely faultless.

That's so weird how you know I went in to it with my mind made up when all I'm telling you is what I saw happen.

When the cop went to "confiscate" his skateboard (which he had no reason to do in the first place) he had already escalated the situation to a level it should have never reached. Then, when the kid tried to hold on to his property that the officer had no reason to take, this grown man grabs him by the neck and slams him to the ground.

That is what happened. Period. That ain't no preconceived notion. It's what's on the video.

I love how he yells sit down as he throws the kid to the ground.

And how he keeps talking about respect, but he's pointing his grubby little finger right in the kid's face, trashing his parents even though he doesn't know them, and ****ing threatening a kid. I wish that kid was bigger than the cop so he could have taught him a thing or two about "respect."

Just for the record, most police officers are good people. I'm happy to have them protect and serve. But that guy isn't a police officer. That guy is a pig on a power trip. One of the kids who had no friends in school, and was too dumb to ever go anywhere in life. So he signs up for a job to get a badge and a gun, because having those two things means he's worth something. Pathetic.

It appears as though the officer handled the situation poorly. However, I would like to point out that just as in about every case of "video evidence", the video is only a fraction of the encounter.

We have no idea if there have been masive problems ongoing with the same kids, if they just knocked some elderly lady down, whatever.

Not that it would excuse the officer completely, but it is also rather strange to think a cop in Balitmore of all palces would just go off on some kids for a minimal amount of disrespect.

If you listen to the audio it sounds like at least one of the kids is still skating when the officer approaches them (meaning he told them to stop and they continued).

Whatever the case, it's impossible to tell what happened in it's entirety, but the fact the officer was suspended means his superiors obviously found that he violated policy.

I agree with this and Heelfan's assessment that both were wrong in their actions. The kid should have been more respectful to the cop and the cop should have kept his cool. In a way, the cops actions probably gave the kid satisfaction as it kind of seems like he was looking to provoke the cop.

Damn it...I was hoping this would fly under the radar as well! Whoever made fun of his shorts...I have a sweet pair of those as well and I'm no rent-a-cop...come to Vegas and I'll show you.

What's sad is this is nothing that my dad didn't do to me. My god...if I filmed every time I disrespected my mom and what my dad promptly did to me after that he would have been on every news channel as well. Great thing is that it made me a better person. If only half the kids out there had dad's half as good as mine the world wouldn't be so screwed up. I believe the #1 problem in America is the lack of family structure.

Should a cop be doing it to a kid. No...once again I gotta say he lost his temper. Another black eye for the boys in blue! That's ok though. I know everyday when I go to work, put on my uniform, strap on my vest, and tighten up my gun belt that I am on the right side of the law...and that I follow and abide by it.

People I arrest get out of jail way to quick, people I pull over might treat me disrespectful, people in restaurants might joke behind my back. But I know that I've helped many more than I can count and when somebody needs me I'll do my best and give my all, even my life, to protect them.

As I've said before I'm a one post and done with these types of messages. I love OS because I can talk about sports and video games, my two vices in life. I'm not here to debate my career of choice. Stay safe all...

yes, the officer did go a "wee" bit far.. however, the question is: who was videotaping the whole thing? The reason I ask is it seems people do these things to rile and "set people up" to overreact to things..

ABC2 has obtained new video of Baltimore police officer Salvatore Rivieri in action at the Inner Harbor. This time he confronts Billy Friebele, an artist from Washington D.C., who was videotaping at the Harbor last summer.

Friebele told ABC2 he was taping the reactions of passersby to a box he was moving with a remote controlled car. Officer Rivieri is seen on tape kicking the box off of the car and then kicking the car. The officer then orders Friebele to leave the area.

Rivieri is the same officer caught on a youtube video wrestling a 14 year old skate boarder to the ground. A spokesperson for the Baltimore Police Department declined to comment on this latest videotape. Officer Rivieri is suspended without pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation of the incident with the skate boarder.
