Never mind the fact that the cop asked them why did I have to keep telling you over and over to stop skateboarding here.

Then the cop asks him a question and he keeps talking back... The cop took it to an extreme but to make comments like "the kids didn't do anything" shouldn't surprise me on OS. Yet, it still does. Obviously people watch the video with their mind made up before scrutinizing every detail...

I don't understand why I continue to expect objectivity here. Guess it's false hope.

I'm calling bs on everything you just said.

It sounds like you're the one who went in with your mind made up.

Here's what is said, written out, so maybe you can view it more objectively:

Cop: Did you hear what I said?
Kid1: Yea, I was trying to tell him but he has his earphones in
Cop: That's what I'm saying, take those earphone out, can you hear me now? Hey, I'm talking to you (unnecessary finger pointing)
Kid2: What?
Cop: I know you hear me
Kid2: yea
Cop: Don't get defensive with me, son, you'll spend some time in juvenile. You're not allowed to ride your skateboards here. NO where.
Kid2: Ok I didn't hear you
Cop: That's why I asked you to take your thing off (This is where it escalates) Don't you get defensive with me, I'm not your father (funny because he called him son earlier). You hear me? I'm not your father. You give that attitude to your father, you give it to me I'll smack you upside the head.
Kid2: I don't have a father (this was probably sarcastic, but for all you or the cop know, it's true, and doesn't justify the cop's reaction)

Then BAM! Cop blows his ****ing fuse for no reason and assaults a 100 pound kid who didn't do anything.

So you can take this "that's so typical from OS" bull**** somewhere else. Open your eyes, watch the damn video.

Under which theory? Intent to frighten? If so a reasonable person must be scared, the kid didnt seem to scared to me, but i do see where your coming from.


Either way we agree its a 2nd charge in court. You cant be charged with A&B, you just get charged with 1st or 2nd degree Assault.

Must be nice... I on the other hand dont have that as a luxury. When dealing with the police for any reason I am usually very nervous even though I'm no afraid of them at all. I always try and follow the law, but I am also 6'4 270 and I dont want a cop to get scared and shoot me cause he is intimated...

I can take a good guess of why you're afraid too.

Yeah the cop was being an *** and went overboard.

From what I heard, the kid didn't get an attitude, he was like yeah I didn't hear you. The cop kept saying don't get defensive blah blah blah...

Kids were being kids and the cop was trying to act bigger then he was. But who knows the history of this place? Maybe a lot of skateboarders have gone through there and disrespected the law and done inappropriate things. Either way, the cop is more in the wrong for wrestling the kid down and trying to intimidate a 14 year old then the kid is for being sarcastic. Cop wanted to show he was the man in this situation and he went pretty overboard.

The cop went too far. No doubt. The kid disrespected the cop, no doubt. 2 wrongs. THe sad part though is seeing the comments here about spitting on the cop, fighting him, the cop ending up face down etc. I was raised to respect the police and any authority figure. I guess all parents don't teach this.

Some people were also taught to defend themselves although I wouldn't be stupid enough to put my hands on a police officer since they could kill me and say that they were scared for their life.

1st, you posted you claimed if it was your kid you would be ashamed. I assumed you don't have kids because you never answered the question.

2nd, have you ever been a kid before? When I was a kid (14 years old, and I have a 13 year old son), we did waaaaay crazier things thing what these kids were doing. Cop or no cop, we would've walked away from him the moment he came toward us.

Without knowing what the kids did before the video started, we can assume that this dick officer is on this detail cuz his *** would be killed talking like this to kids in da hood.

Boys will be boys and if you reprimand your kid over he say she say (right or wrong), you'll lose the trust of your kids faster than the speed of light.

Just think of all the boys who cried out to their parents about Priests touching them and for the parents to say, "Not Father SoSo, you're lying."

I'll always have my kids back til I find out the truth.

Call anything you want; You just proved that your mind was made up. So thanks for proving my point.

The cop went to confiscate the kids skateboard after everything you wrote out, not "blow his fuse for no reason," and the kid refused to give it to him, hence the struggle. The cop told the kid to sit down so he wouldn't try and reach for the skateboard and the kid once again, tried to get up.

Do I agree with the cop pushing him down a second time? No. Did the cop "assault a 100 pound kid who didn't do anything?"



Yeah, that's exactly what he did.

At least his friends were smart enough to shut up. They shouldn't have been skating there to begin with. Am I wrong about that? Does that justify the cops actions? No. Heelfan said it best.... 2 wrongs.

But yeah, the kid is completely faultless.
