Re: The ChrisS Severe Weather Thread

Storm chasing was one of my passions when I was younger and lived TX and wanted to be either a storm chaser or meterologist. Didn't work out that way, but the subject interests me like nothing else. Amazing stuff.

I'm pretty sure it was last spring, because our baseball game got canceled in OKC and as we were crossing an overpass on I-40 I looked straight down the interstate and saw the thing touchdown. Honestly it was pretty cool. I do think there were other cells that day too. As of the exact date I don't remember it.

I remember that. I lived in Norman at the time.

One of my good friends is a storm chaser. He got his meteorology degree from OU.

Yea, I'm still debating on that, I want to get one of those, and that is the place to get it too.

Just make sure you are really good at math...else it is a big fail :o

Well...I now have Nexrad delivered by Satellite into my vehicle for the rest of storm chase season...that's gonna give me an extra edge over previous years where I just missed tornadoes due to a number of issues...at least I hope so

Chris did you go the meterology path, and if you did could you give me some info, recently it jumped back into my number 1 of college majors. (I feel like a high school athlete when it comes to what I'm going to college for)

No, I'm actually Broadcast Journalism, but I can tell you that Meteorology is not easy for sure. It's something you will really have to want to do to stick it through...and it doesn't help to have a good high school background in math and science to boot
