I probably would have **** my pants if I was on that plane. If I were a passenger on that plane, I'm not sure If I would be happy the guy saved it, or upset that the guy got us in that position in the first place.

I enjoy flying, but I'm not a big fan of crashing or almost crashing.

It's not the pilot's fault that the wind was bad.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

It's the pilots fault that he couldn't control it.

The wind is bad a lot of times during landing, but very rarely do you see this kind of event.

It wasn't completely the pilots fault, but he did play a role.

Yeah I'm sure that when the wind gusts up to 155 mph it's the pilot's fault that the plane went out of control for a second.

yeah, 155mph winds and its the pilots fault. If anything the pilot did a great job not crashing.

You don't try to land a ****ing plane with 155 mph gusts. That's insanity.

Even more reason to blame this on the pilot and the control tower. The control tower knows what the weather is like on the runway. They should have never cleared the guy to land.

Edit: Um... I doubt that was 155mph gusts. It probably meant the plane was going 155mph when it was hit by wind. If it were 155mph gusts, you'd have seen a tornado or something.

First of all, do you expect the pilot to circle around for hours until the wind died down? Second of all, I don't see why the spokesperson would lie and unless you've been in Germany and transported back to the US you have no idea what the weather or wind is like there.

I don't think spokesperson was lying. I think it was a typo. I am willing to bet the spokesperson meant the plane was going 155mph when it was trying to land.

A 155mph wind gust would blow the skin off my face. I HIGHLY doubt the control tower would allow the plane to land in these kinds of winds.

They would have the plane turn around, and find another airport to land at. They would not risk trying to land a plane with that high of wind gusts.

Do you know how fast 155mph is?

I know it's fast enough to obviously affect a plane. Why would anyone lie about how fast the wind was going?

                        I edited my post.

I think it was just misinterpretation of what he/she said. I don't think they meant the winds were at 155mph, but that the plane was going 155mph when the pilot was trying to land.

Maybe they should allow all passengers to carry guns on board, that would take care of any problems.

                              Opps, wrong thread.
