I don't know if it's just me but I'm still amazed that planes are able to fly at all.

Planes amaze me, and how two little pieces of steel can hold up a freight train amazes me too. I'm glad the latter works because I ride trains for a living!

Yes, the tower clears them to land.

Hopefully that pilot is brought up on some sort of charges.

If I were a passenger, I would sue the **** out him and the airline.

Quite honestly, it looks like a approach for landing, except with the wheels up and the plane loaded with jet fuel.

My bet is that there were 155 Kilometer Per Hour gusts... which would be about 90 mph gusts which is possible in very heavy weather.

That's pretty darn' scary.

From the reports I read, it said that the plane was traveling at 155 mph. If the wind was that strong, the plane wouldn't have survived.

I made a joking statement, and then jmood took my comment and started turning it around making it sound like I was putting all the blame on the pilot.

Then he claimed the wind gusts were 155mph, so I said no pilot should have ever tried to land in weather like that. But then it was proven that the wind was not going that fast.

My "claim" was based on the story. My main point was that it wasn't the pilot's fault anyway.
