Same here. It just happened for me, and my wife. She even picked out the ring she wanted.

We went shopping for the ring together because that's what she wanted. I got a great deal on it. Make no mistake, shopping for a ring is like shopping for a car. Negotiate it down to what you want to spend. I paid about $6000, but it was appraised at $9800 (make sure to get it appraised and get it on your homeowners insurance).

How I did it? Asked her father/mother first. Then took her to dinner on Mt Washington and did it after dinner. Mt. Washington overlooks the entire city and is really beautiful at night.

But it's overlooking Pittsburgh. Not sure if it's really "beautiful".

My wife picked out the ring too - a simple one, not fancy. And one of here relatives owns a jewelry store, so we even got a low price!

I didn't ask my wife's dad either so that makes me gangsta? Cool.

Seriously, I was 19 and stupid at the time. Knowing what I know now I would have asked him, but thankfully I don't think he is holding a grudge over it. 9 years after the wedding I'm still married to his daughter.

Now you're going to make me post what it looks like from Mt. Washington.

is that a steel mill in the top left corner or a coal mine?

just kidding ... that's a pretty cool view. remind me of the view from A mountain in tucson.

Re: Married guys, a few questions

Good idea about getting my daughter a ring. My girlfriend told me about a ceromony we will do during our wedding for my daughter, because not only is she marrying me, she is marrying her as well. So there is like this thing you do during the wedding with my daughter.

I am ready to marry her, I know she is the one and I have never felt like this about anonther women. We have only been dating a year, but we spend almost every day together and I don't think time should really matter, if you know, you know.

I just want to make it right. I want it to be a very special day, I want to be able to get her a nice ring. Next big day is her birthday in August, but I am not sure if I want to do it on a special day, might be more of a surprise if I pick a random day.

                            I dunno too much!
