Guess who I saw at the donut shop sunday morning.

I live in memphis and me and my dad went to go get some donuts at a really busy dunk n donuts.
And right there in front of me in line was John Calipari.
Then I said, "DAD! Theres Jon Calipari!" and my dad was like "who?" and i was like "THE COACH FOR MEMPHIS!"
and he turned around and shook our hands and stuff.
    then everyone like rushed him.
    it was cool.

Sorry. The correct answer is Joe DiMaggio. You saw Joe DiMaggio at Dinky Donuts

My best Athlete sighting, outside of at a game, was Jonathan Ogden going into a Target. It was about a week before summer camp started, the year that the Ravens were on Hard Knocks.
Also Cal Ripken at BWI airport on a flight to Orlando. Just saw him briefly though.

LOL, I was thinking Seinfeld when I saw this thread title as well.

That's cool, although I'm a big proponent of leaving celebrities alone when they're out in public.

            Why?

I don't support having a mob of people rush them at Best Buy, asking for autographs and pictures, but I'm fine with people seeing a celebrity and just saying "Hello."

What's wrong with a "hello" and then a handshake? As long as you aren't invading their personal space (rubbing up against them and asking for 40 pictures), there really shouldn't be a problem. They are just regular people, just with more money and more people are aware of who they are.

If they are just regular people why would you go up to them and say hello?

I actually don't have a big problem with that. I just cringe when someone yells out, "Hey! It's [insert celebrity here]!" and causes a mad rush.

Why not? I've been in lines, elevators, stores, etc.. with random strangers, and have said "Hello" and gotten into little conversations. If I can talk to some random person on the street, I think it'd be fine if I went up and started talking to a celebrity. I'm not going to go out of my way to chase them down and ask for a picture or anything, but If they are in the vicinity, I'll say "hello."

It's not like I'm asking them to marry me, just saying "hello."

Now that I can't stand. If you want to go up and say "hey, I really enjoyed your performance in that movie," that's cool. But don't start screaming and making a huge scene.

Edit: Why do some people think talking to strangers is some kind of taboo? It's just conversation. Don't be so shy.

I'd have to say the top athlete I've seen was the person I saw in the mirror about 5 minutes ago

                          Haha.

I've never met anyone famous. Not many celebrities come around these parts.
