A few years ago, my father was driving down in Saint Albans, West Virginia. we came up on a bridge which was having some construction work being done and was very narrow. This guy on a bicycle comes down the bridge the wrong way (against the traffic), and is wobbling all over the place. It is quite evident he was drunk. He then proceeded to fall about 5 feet in front of our car. We were driving like 45 mph and my father swerved the car, barely missing the guy, just clipping his bike, and we drove off. I am just lucky I wasn't driving, because I probably would have killed him...

OT: If I were to off myself, I think I'd go skydiving with no parachute and "superman" my way down. Just really try to enjoy it.

As mentioned, he wanted a lawsuit. Doesn't matter what car you drive, your insurance company is rich and if not, your house, car, etc is worth a lot.

I was just on my lunch break, driving to the McDonalds that was like 6 blocks away. well 2 blocks from my worksite, a guy runs out into the street and in front of my car. I slam the breaks. I stop barely 2 inches from colliding with him. I roll down my window to yell some choice words at him, and before I could utter a word, the older male dressed in raggedy clothes yells "WHY THE *EARMUFFS* YOU STOP!!! I am stunned. I quickly shift into reverse and go down another block. This man really wanted to die, and he wanted my vehicle to be the cause of his death. Thats scary.

It's pretty clear he was the maniac was in this situation.

I have seen some messed up things. I saw a crash that someone didnt survive. But If i were actually driving and and killed someone i know it would have messed me up. I sure as hell wouldnt be posting right now, I would be too traumatized to explain what the hell happened to the police, let alone be composed enough to sit here and type up what i just experienced. This could have been alot worse. Thankfully I have good brakes, and great reaction time. (this is a time id like to tell my mom all those video games i played as a kid really did help my hand eye coordination.) The thing is, had there been a car parked to obstruct my vision, there would have been no way for me to see him. I saw him dart out in front and as soon as i saw him enter the street from the sidewalk i slammed the brakes. If i glanced down at the radio or the speedometer or the reirview mirror at that second. or as i mentioned earlier he ran between parked cars, i would have had no chance to stop.

You must've had practice with the Awareness Test video as well. I assume you noticed the moonwalking bear?

I can't even begin to imagine if I were ever the cause of death for anything, even if it meant putting my guinea pig to sleep. I just couldn't live with myself knowing that I caused an other's death.

Glad to have read you stopped in time. I hope the guy didn't pick another innocent bypasser.

I just can't imagine the feeling of seeing someone in their last seconds of life. That alone would tear me up.

Let's say he wanted to get money from the insurance company. But if he gets hit by a car there's a chance he'll become crippled. I don't get it, the guys prefers being richer but crippled than poor but healthy. Go figure...

As a police officer, I was out on a call for a customer dispute at a hotel near a major highway. While dealing with that call, I looked over to my left where I watched a guy time his run into the fast lane so that he could be hit by a car. Needless to say, he did a good job! Unfortunately, he stepped in front of a teenager and his low riding car. I spent more time explaining to the poor kid that it was not his fault as I witnessed the whole thing. Still, if people are going to hurt themselves, they should leave others out of their plans.

Man that's some crazy stuff. Thank God you stopped before hitting him; that wouldn't be something you would want to live with.

I unfortunately, experienced a suicide when I was a kid. I'm in the car on a weekday going to my grandparents house, when my mom screams and is completely shocked. As I follow her eyes to a window of a pretty high building I see a girl on the ledge of the window and to many horrifying screams, watch her push herself out, flying for a few seconds (it seemed like minutes) and slamming against the sidewalk. I was put to tears when I saw the blood squirting everywhere (I had a weak stomach when I was younger), and my mom sped away from the scene almost in tears.

The scene is still burned in my memory and I remember it like it was yesterday. Some people are just crazy in this world.
