I just had a pre written excuse from my mom that I would give to the attendance person and didn't have any problems.
At my old HS my senior year they implemented some rule that if we missed x amount of classes that we would have to go before a board to explain the absences in order to graduate. Another girl and I both missed the requisite number of classes she had to go through the hearing I didn't, but to be fair I was college bound and she was loser hood pregnant by 19 bound.

For anyone ever planning a wedding, just come to grips that your life ends about 2 months before the wedding, as all you do is make calls and visits to different vendors.

You too can be a 5* recruit at FSU.......

We have most of it finalized, but some vendors wont let you pay until the day off, or two weeks in advance, you have tastings, meetings, confirmations, fittings, gifts to buy........meh

Yea, its our job to agree, or say, "Do what ever makes you happy". The only time i get involved is when she needs the Enforcer to turn the heat on some of the vendors when they give her crap.

                  Re: OS Off Topic

So there's my future, lets use a car as a symbol. It rides up to the driveway and I'm about to open the door and get in, but at the last minute my mom decides that she doesn't like it and drives it back to where it came from. Welcome to my life.

Basically, I am now 100% screwed. My mom has now said that I'm not going to BGSU and she's cancelling the deposit. She said I'm showing "immature behavior" by saying that I don't want to go to a PA state school other than PSU and calling her out by telling her that she would gladly co-sign for a school more expensive than BGSU, but "isn't a qualified co-signer" for BGSU. She said that she thinks I won't be successfull at college and will likely fail out. She said that I'm not likely to get a job out of college and will default on my student loans, using my aunt as an example.

My aunt defaulted on her student loans, but she had to raise two children by herself while paying those off, and I have no intentions of having kids any time soon, and certainly not before I'm married. That's a poor example, IMO. My other aunt paid hers off no problem and didn't have kids until after they were paid off for one, and after she got married for two.

She think's that I'm going to be over $100,000 in debt after I graduate, but according to CollegeBoard.com, BGSU's average indebtedness for a student is just over $24,000. She's not even factoring financial aid, maybe because she hasn't finished the forms yet, and I can't because I don't know her tax information.

She also says I shouldn't go because she'd have to drive out and back twice more, once for orientation and once for moving day. I understand the extremely high price of gas, but two times. Two times and you never have to do it again. It's me driving out and back after that, me paying for it. Is it honestly causing you that much of a problem to drive out there just two more times?

To top it off, she made my guidance counselor call me down today to basically tell me that because my grades in high school are "mediocre", he doesn't think I'll succeed in college either. Then he finished by saying "I'd start looking for a full-time job now".

Sure I've said some things to my mom that I regret, but this is extremely unfair to me. I can't take this anymore, I'm at my end with this. She's known that I was interested in BGSU since October, so why, why now, why after getting accepted, visiting, and putting down a housing deposit, would you tell me that cost is a problem? I need to get away from this. This negativity is ridiculous and I can't stand it anymore. It's depressing to know that your future is shot and was taken away before it even started...by your own mother. I have no idea what to do. I'd ask my dad to co-sign, but my stepmom hates me and guaranteed wouldn't let him do it. I have noone else. I can't give in to my mom and show her that she can control me whenever she wants. She needs to get it in her head that I'm a grown person and can make decisions for myself.

I'm so angry right now, and at the same time I'm half depressed, just so many emotions running through my head right now.

JJ that is a serious problem man. I'd say just try and relax for a little bit before you make any decisions. I was fortunate to have a mom who would do anything for me. Your mom sounds like a *****

Parents are supposed to be happy that their kids are going off to college and usually happy to help with all the preparation.

Yeah, I'm trying not to make any stupid decisions right now because I know I'd be making them just out of anger and not thinking it through all the way.

She's been crazy protective of me for as long as I can remember, but IMO there's a point where you have to give a kid some space and let them start making decisions for themselves. She thinks all of this is for the best, but it's pushing me away even further every time she does it. She thinks that this should be 100% her decision and I should just live with it. I even tell her that this is pushing me away, but that's considered "immature behavior", and I have no idea what I'm talking about. I'll be 18 years old in 5 days, I think I have some semblance of a clue about decision making and living life.

I would consider some of her concerns as legitimate if she wouldn't flip-flop on some of them or use poor examples, such as my single aunt with 2 kids not being able to pay student loans. I would understand the cost if she wouldn't have brought it up so late or told me she was willing to co-sign for somewhere more expensive.

I'm scared as hell now. I want to go to college, and I want to go somewhere that I want to be, and I want to study what I want, and I want to go to the place where I feel like I'll be most successful, and that's BG. I need my space, and I wish people would just respect that. Unless it was PSU, I do not want to go in-state. I've made that clear ever since my college process began last year...respect that...that's all I'm asking for.

We barely talk. I see him/talk to him maybe 2-3 times per year. My stepmom and her whole family doesn't like me, they haven't ever since they got married 10 years ago, they think I was spoiled as a kid. I don't want him to think I'm using him for his signature and possibly his money, and I just highly doubt if she'll let him because of the potential (but doubtful) credit risk that exists.
