Re: OS Off Topic
JJ, I've never been to the mall at BG, but that campus isn't at a bad area in town. I mean, it's BG... in the middle of nowhere. BG is still a pretty decent school. Hope everything works out for you. Have you thought about going to a smaller school for a year or so then transferring to another school (assuming there is absolutely no way you can get to BG)?Comment

There's always a way to get into school, man. I'm sure your mother will come around eventually if you're dead set on going to BGSU and that you are the one that's going to be paying off the student loans. She's your mom, for Christ's sake.. I can't imagine her not wanting her son to further his education.
Just remember it can always get worse, bro.. my parents stopped paying for everything after almost two years of college. Now, I'm most likely done with school for the time being. So as a 20 year old in an expensive area to live, I've got rent + all utilities to pay, a car payment, car insurance, cell phone, health/dental insurance, and a credit card. I have to get a second job just to pay off the bills, so even if I applied for financial aid to go back to school, I wouldn't have time in the day to actually attend classes.Comment

Well you could always go to a community college for two years and then transfer to a 4 year school after that. CC's are super cheap and then you could prove to your mom that you are willing to work hard and get good grades.Comment

As for CC, not an option. Nothing against people that go to them, but I'm just not interested.
I shouldn't even have to come up with another option right now anyway.Comment

Re: OS Off Topic
There's nothing wrong with CC, bro. I know there are always judgments passed on the students as them not being "intelligent enough" to attend a University, but the fact of the matter is, that's definitely not the case. Many of the people are in the same exact situation as you. You get the same education at a fraction of the price, get to hang out with people that do attend local Universities, and you're given a chance to mature before you make the leap to a giant school.Comment

Re: OS Off Topic
you mean Can't Read? Can't Write? Kent State! lol, sorry but I had to put it there.
JJ man, you thought about attending a satellite for a semester or two? My brother's grades out of high school weren't that great so he went to Ohio State-Delaware campus. Worked hard there for a bit and then transferred to the school he wanted to go to all along, Indiana. Now he's one semester away from graduating with a degree in telecommunications. You could be a part time student and work part time then transfer when you have some money saved up. Just a thought.Lux y VeritasComment

Re: OS Off Topic
What would be so wrong with going to a CC for one year, proving to your mother that you can do well in college and then possibly transferring to another school, perhaps Penn State?
Before I went to law school I spent a year at a CC to get back into the flow of things, I had a 4.0 and improved my chances of attending law school. If not for the year at the CC I don't know that I would have gotten into WNEC (mainly because I blew off undergrad). In the end I did what I needed to and may end up graduating law school with honors.Comment

Re: OS Off Topic
Really, I thought that was for all of the state schools in Vermont. Seriously, Vermont probably has the worst state colleges in America. If not for Middlebury and Saint Michael's College there wouldn't be a single decent college in the entire state.Comment

What's your sisters name?Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
