because they would not make any money that way. Most gas stations are already making very little to nothing on gas right now. The candy bars aren't going to make up for it. The real ripoff is those charging 1.39 for a 20 oz. soft drink. That's crazy and people buy them all the time.
So.....Whats your gas at??

They make their money off of the stuff inside, at least the one's who have stores.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

 Come on dog.

You price your gas $.20 less per gallon. Say people buy 8 gallons. That's now $1.60 you have to make up. Given the markups in prices, that means everyone would have to buy about 4 candy bars or drinks to make that price up. Say 1 in 3 people buy something, now you need that person to buy 12 candies/drinks to break even on the original gas price, let alone make your normal store money.Comment

You also aren't couting in extra traffic to the gas station due to the lower price.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

 Re: So.....Whats your gas at??

Well, gas stations already only make on average 5 cents per gallon of gas sold. Lowering the price of gas by 20-30 cents would mean selling gas at a loss, which is probably not a good idea, unless you can get every single person who stops by to fill up to go inside and drop $20 on Snickers bars.I don't understand why gas stations don't just lower the price of gas to get more people to go to their gas station and spend money. I saw a story with a gas station owner complaining that since the price of gas was so high people weren't spending their money on drinks and other stuff in there but if he would just have his price like 20-30 cents lower than everyone else not only would he have people going out of their way to go to his station but they would probably buy other stuff in there too.Ryan Spencer

It's not the gas stations call either. While the station owners are losing money, the major corporations are recording record profits.I don't understand why gas stations don't just lower the price of gas to get more people to go to their gas station and spend money. Re: So.....Whats your gas at??

They aren't charging less because I don't think they can. They can only charge between a certain range because of taxes and the price set by corporate. Even when they have a promotion/sale for like $2.00, some company or the station is buying the gas at the regular price.Comment

It's nice how when gas goes up, all we hear is people bitching and news coverage, but when gas goes down, it's hardly even mentioned.Comment
