because they would not make any money that way. Most gas stations are already making very little to nothing on gas right now. The candy bars aren't going to make up for it. The real ripoff is those charging 1.39 for a 20 oz. soft drink. That's crazy and people buy them all the time.

They make their money off of the stuff inside, at least the one's who have stores.

        Come on dog.

You price your gas $.20 less per gallon. Say people buy 8 gallons. That's now $1.60 you have to make up. Given the markups in prices, that means everyone would have to buy about 4 candy bars or drinks to make that price up. Say 1 in 3 people buy something, now you need that person to buy 12 candies/drinks to break even on the original gas price, let alone make your normal store money.

You also aren't couting in extra traffic to the gas station due to the lower price.

Well, gas stations already only make on average 5 cents per gallon of gas sold. Lowering the price of gas by 20-30 cents would mean selling gas at a loss, which is probably not a good idea, unless you can get every single person who stops by to fill up to go inside and drop $20 on Snickers bars.

It's not the gas stations call either. While the station owners are losing money, the major corporations are recording record profits.

Meanwhile, found gas here in Vegas for $4.08.

They aren't charging less because I don't think they can. They can only charge between a certain range because of taxes and the price set by corporate. Even when they have a promotion/sale for like $2.00, some company or the station is buying the gas at the regular price.

Gas went from $3.99 two weeks ago to $3.69 now...$3.52 in a town close to Bloomsburg.

It's nice how when gas goes up, all we hear is people bitching and news coverage, but when gas goes down, it's hardly even mentioned.
