Filled up for $2.89 yesterday, which is preposterous, considering oil is down below $67 and refined gas is now sitting at $1.57 (before the rip-off taxes (About 40-63 cents per gallon, depending on the state), profits, and other expenses). Gas should be sitting right around the $2 mark now.

How are the taxes a ripoff? Unless you want all your driving to be on gravel roads, they are pretty necessary.

You are paying a huge amount of tax. 40-60 cents per gallon is a massive tax. And it doesn't particularly go for the roads. They say it does, but if that were the case, then other facets of the government such as social security would not be going bankrupt in the future. It all goes in the general fund.
