Re: San Diego State drug bust
Until the government stops making it the easiest and fastest way to make money, people will continue to sell cocaine.
Though advertising on a cell phone and selling it out of a house is ****ing idiotic. If you've enough money to get 2 kilos of cocaine, you can afford an apartment.Comment

Re: San Diego State drug bust
Gotta love a bunch of students and frat boys having a "sale" on cocaine. You want to pretend you're Scarface then be ready to accept the consequences.
Either their lawyers will get them all probation with credit for time served...or some judge is going to try and make an example out of them and hit them hard. I'm sure they are praying for the former.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

Re: San Diego State drug bust
Oh what the hell, there was a drug bust at State?
In a way, I'm not suprised, most of these frats are another world from me and it seemed like something this stupid would come up eventually. This will probably hurt SDSU's reputation, but damn, you can't block out all the idiots.Comment

Re: San Diego State drug bust
Yeah, to be honest, it will almost feel embarrassing to me that when I return home and start coaching softball again, that's all the parents are going to bring up, and I really do think that's how it will be received for a little while if the news about this is indeed that big.
In case anyone cares, here were the emails that we received:
ALERT FROM SDSU
Office of Housing Administration
<tt>E-mail to Residence Hall Students 5/6/08
TO: All Residence Hall Students
FROM: James R. Kitchen, Vice President for Student Affairs
Dear Student:
An ongoing police investigation resulted in the arrest of several people
suspected of selling illegal drugs to San Diego State students.
The majority of those arrests took place this morning in the College Area as
part
of a joint operation led by SDSU Police and the federal Drug Enforcement
Agency (DEA). Related arrests have taken place over the past 12 months.
I want to assure you that San Diego State University places the health and
safety
of students and the rest of our campus community as our highest priority. There
is nothing more important than the welfare of each and every student. Because
of the excellent work done by the SDSU Police – who led this investigation – and
the cooperation and support of the DEA and the District Attorney’s Office, the
university is a much safer place today.
The investigation included an extensive undercover operation. Some of those
arrested include SDSU students, who have now been suspended from the
university pending a due-process review. Those living in any campus-managed
housing are being evicted.
We will continue to do what is necessary -- through both enforcement and
education – to encourage our students to make the responsible choices to
ensure the health and safety of our campus.
To provide updated information on the investigation and arrests, SDSU has
established a special Web site at www.sdsu.edu/information.

SDSU POLICE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS
SDSU President Stephen L. Weber
This morning, SDSU Police concluded a year-long investigation with the arrest of 18 SDSU students suspected of selling drugs to other students. The majority of the arrests took place in the College Area and on the SDSU campus as part of a joint operation by SDSU Police and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
For updated information on the investigation and arrests, visit: www.sdsu.edu/information
I want to commend the excellent work done by the SDSU Police – who led this investigation. I also want to extend our gratitude to the Drug Enforcement Agency and District Attorney’s Office for their outstanding cooperation and support.
Several SDSU students are among those arrested today. Each of these students has been suspended. They will not be returning to class or taking final exams until completion of due-process review, to which they are entitled under the law. Those who were living in university-managed housing have been evicted.
San Diego State is dedicated to higher learning and to human growth and development. The use of and/or trafficking in illegal substances are inconsistent with our values and with the pursuit of our mission. Certainly today’s arrests underscore the scope of the challenges universities face as we fight this major societal problem. We are determined to remove people from our community who place our students at risk, and to see that they are turned over to the criminal justice system.
Today’s arrests are a big step forward toward a safer environment for our students, faculty, staff and neighbors. SDSU will continue to do what is necessary – through both enforcement and education – to encourage students to make the responsible choices to ensure the health and safety of our campus community.

Re: San Diego State drug bust
I will go ahead and say no, not every major university or city population does. Unless when you say major university you only mean the top 20 or so in the nation and then I would agree with you. However, cocaine isn't always the drug of choice for everyone... though if you play GTA IV you would think so.NCAA Vets League: Arkansas Razorbacks (9-2, 6-1)
