The key for me has been avoiding snacks when I'm not hungry. I don't buy many snack foods anymore, because if it's not at home then I won't eat it. I'm lazy, so I'm not gonna drive out for chips or something if I want a snack. I try and keep it to things that are a little better for me.
Yep, I had to stop eating lunch with coworkers as well. It saves me money, and we would always go fast food and just eat terrible food (it was good though!). Now I go home and eat a sandwich or something like that.

Eating some fruit is so much better for snacks its not funny.

Having an apple or slices of pineapple, or a plum, or even a banana with some water will kill any cravings real quick.

That's next on my list...I need to hit up the fruit market when I'm back from my trip. I'm trying to find good stuff to eat healthier, because I want something I can continue doing for years. It helps that I'm not trying to lose a ton of weight, more just lose that itty bitty belly I've grown since college.

The only thing i hate about fruit is that you have to continue to buy it. What I mean by that is, it doesn't last very long like it used to, so you'll be buying fruit and eating it, and going right back to the store.

Whenever i go to subway i pretty much scratch the lettuce and just get spinach.... eating veggies help too.

I'll have to try spinach instead of lettuce sometime at Subway.

And I know exactly what you mean about constantly buying fruit/groceries. I'm the type that likes to go to the store and load up on a lot of groceries, where I'm set for a while. Fruit isn't quite conducive to that, but I'll just find a good fruit place on the way home hopefully (fruit markets are better than the regular Krogers/Fry's/whatever you have)

Well it'll leave your sandwich kinda flat, but the main thing is that it's healthy.

I dont have any fruit stands anywhere around where i stay, so i guess that sucks. Im stuck with going to the local grocery stores, although not bad, its always a hassle to go that route.

I mean more the stores that more focus on fruits, veggies, etc...We have Sprouts around here that has stuff, and I know there's a Whole Foods place that a girl I'm dating talks about. I'm not quite there yet, but she eats super healthy, works out every day, etc. I'm at the 5ish days a week depending on how busy I am.

Ah yes Whole Foods and Trader Joes are around but they are so spread out that you'd drive a few miles just to get to one. A definite inconvenience.

My schedule only permits 4 days at week at most, but i went from not working out to doing 4 days a week so thats a huge jump.

When my stimulus check comes im getting some kind of stationary bike too when im not at the sand dunes and stairs to keep it going.

I actually have a great bike that you sit down on (recumbent?, not sitting up like normal bike) that my parents left because they stopped using it. I should set that up and get on it more just to supplement if I'm not playing tennis or doing other workouts.

I'm just trying to go slowly because if I change too much at first I won't stick with it...it's a tough battle

That's the kind of bike i want.

Once you make up in your mind that this is what you want, you wont quit.... especially when you start feeling better. That's the best motivator of all. You might feel lazy right now but when your endorphins start kicking in, and that metabolism kicks up its like a natural drug that lures you back.

Some people do 2 a day workouts to lose fast, but i dont have that kind of time.

btw, here are a couple of pics of the sand dunes i go up and down

I chose these because they kinda show how steep the thing is.

Do it about 8 times and you start feeling like a champion.

Seriously...that would wreck me at first. I remember doing major trail runs in high school while training (for cross country) and some of those hills were brutal. I'm in halfway decent cardio, but man that would hurt!

LOL, man its all kinds of folks out there. When you arent used to it, you feel like you're going to give up all the food you ate that day. He's not even at the top yet, that's the bad part for him.

I saw a group of muscle chicks this weekend. When i did the stairs which you cant see, they were hopping up each and every step. It was just weird to be out there with them.

The only guys ive seen dominate the dunes, umm like a handful of athletes. Some guy from Nigeria, some guy who plays college ball and some old dude who used skis...lol, and Andrew Bynum pretty much went here all summer last year to get in shape.

When you make it to the top you can see a view similar to that, and the way you face walking up you see the beach close enough to walk or jog to.
