I'd let her, epecially if I was nice.

On the flip side, I don't like driving anyone else's car unless I have to.

Yeah...whenever I get married I won't have a problem with it..."mine" becomes "ours", but when it's just mine I get possessive of my car, i can't help it lol

my fiance' is the same way. I have no problem with her driving my truck, but she just doesn't want to.

She drives my SUV though. And now its technically hers anyways.

          Long-term relationship? Yeah, no problem.

          Casually dating? Bump that.

Re: How Many of You Let Your Girl Drive YOUR Car?

I very rarely let anyone drive my truck, so usually no. The only time I let anyone borrow it when I was out of town for a couple days it came back with the check engine light on and felt like it was missing a cylinder. Of course he said it wasn't like that when he drove it. Not that I was mad, but seemed a bit fishy. Wasn't too hard to fix.

As for my girl, only time she's driven it was when I couldn't drive it home from the bar. Otherwise no, and I don't think she really wants to.

Re: How Many of You Let Your Girl Drive YOUR Car?

We don't have a car, but when we started dating I drove my parents' car. I asked her to drive it every now and then - so that she wouldn't forget or lose her confident, but she wouldn't want. She didn't want to take the chance that something would happen to the car - and she's right. in 1997, a day after my mother bought her new Deihatsu, I took the car and went with a friend to Tel Aviv. So some stupid driver scratched my car a bit - and it was brand new! What's worse that she said: "Anyway eventually something like this will happen", and I'm like WHAT? WTF? "U're lucky u're a woman or I'd be really mad!". And then I came home and got a 3-hour lecture from my dead with yelling and all that...
So I can undrestand why my wife never wanted to drive my parents' car...

Re: How Many of You Let Your Girl Drive YOUR Car?

Our two cars are for whoever wants to drive them at the time.

Another question is, how comfortable are you sitting in the passenger seat while your wife/girlfriend is doing the driving? My wife is a shocking driver. I hang on to the door handle for dear life sometimes.

I feel like Jerry Seinfeld that time he let Elaine drive his car. "I think I'm going to be sick!" LOL!

Some people say that a woman don't need a car because she can drive her husband nuts.

Re: How Many of You Let Your Girl Drive YOUR Car?

A few years back I had just dumped about $1500 into a Pontiac Sunfire. I bought the car new, it was 6 years old at this time and was completely paid off. There were a few things wrong with it (timing chain, needed a tune up, brakes) and I decided it would be better to drop some money into and get another few years out if it rather than get a new car.

Two months later my girlfriend totaled the car and it was her fault. I only had liability insurance (I was living on my own and it was saving me a $100 a month). Needless to say I learned two things.

                        - Don't let her drive
                        - Always have full coverage

Cars mean so little to me. Wife takes whichever car is last in the driveway. If it's "mine" then she takes that one and I take the other.

i never let anyone drive my car.

you should never let anyone drive your car, especially if you have an insurance policy only in your name. the only way you will be covered is if you have a family policy, otherwise your insurer cant claim your damages if you lend your car to someone thats not on your policy.

I don't own a car but when/if I do I will never let anyone sit in the driver's seat. Never.
