Re: Being unemployed really sucks
Glad to hear it man, I was told by the head of HR that they are going to rehire me no matter what so once that gets sorted out and Im brought back in then I will be back in the working force again. My job isnt the greatest but it pays the bills and keeps the creditors at bay so I cant complain.Comment

Re: Being unemployed really sucks
My hunt for a new job officially began today, let's see how long this takes.
Maybe I'll apply for one of those 2,000+ openings the FBI has."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Being unemployed really sucks
for anyone looking, you can try your local census bureau...they are gearing up for next years census and are hiring for a ton of positions. yes it is only a 9-10 month position, it could get you doing something while you are looking for something else.
unfortunately i live in a smaller area and found out about this too late as all the positions were filled.Comment

Re: Being unemployed really sucks
Well now I'm trying to look for part-time work during the summer (taking 1 class) and then to carry me through school until graduation. I've been applying everwhere with no luck. Lots of hiring freezes going on right now still and I was told I was overqualified for Family Video (how does that happen?). I had a interview with K-Mart set, and then they called the day before the interview to say they were told not to hire new people right now.
Tomorrow I'm just going to pick up as many applications as I can. If I have to work at a fast food place, I will.Last edited by Herky; 05-25-2009, 05:43 PM.GT: Herkyalert

I don't blame them for that either. However, I have one and a half years left of school and need something to carry me through until graduation.Last edited by Herky; 05-25-2009, 09:04 PM.GT: Herkyalert

Re: Being unemployed really sucks
Unemployed is what you make of it. Use the time to do things you can't do when you work. The last time I was unemployed I didn't work for nearly a year. However in that time I lost nearly 70 pounds and got into good physical shape. Working out several hours a day just isn't something I have time for when I'm employed but when I was unemployed it helped to pass the time plus it helped my health.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Well after nearly a year of trying to start a career after school I got a job with Bank of America.

It's been a bastard finding a job around here. It's been extra frustrating for me. A place I applied to twice in the past year just hired one of my friends. Another place I applied to twice in the past 3 months hired another one of my friends. Then I thought I had a landscaping job lined up wtih a friend, but it fell through.
It appears I've caught a break though. A friend's sister says she can get me a summer job, at least, at a financial advisory office. It sounds absolutely perfect too... maybe almost too good to be true. But there have already been a few hang ups and I fear that this opportunity is going to somehow fall through too, but I'm not giving up hope just yet.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: Being unemployed really sucks
I've had a tough go with my job search as well. A couple weeks ago I graduated with honors from the Mizzou School of Journalism, which is regarded as one of the best J-Schools anywhere. Unfortunately, the journalism industry is crumbling before my very eyes. I've had contacts in the industry tell me straight up, "there are no jobs. None." While that's not totally true, it's not far off.
Right now I have an unpaid internship with the Missouri State Treasurer's Office in Jefferson City. Great experience, but I need some income. I've resorted to applying for non-news media positions, as I'm willing to start anywhere and work my way up. Hopefully I'll catch a break sometime soon.Ryan Spencer

Re: Being unemployed really sucks
This is my strategy. I went on Wiki and I wrote down all of the corporate headquarters and regional offices in Dallas. Then I went to each and every website and searched for their openings. I've been getting a good bit of action using that tactic.Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Fool me twice can't put the blame on you.
