Anyone use any whitening products for your teeth?

I was wondering if anybody here uses anything, and if you do, what works, what doesn't, what's good value, etc?

I take great care of my teeth, brushing at least three times a day (normally after every meal and before bed) and floss twice, so I'm doing my part. But unfortunately I have this seemingly inevitable yellow staining barely visible on the bottom of my two front teeth near the crack. My dentist couldn't do much (naturally) to help it, so it seems as though it's just an unfortunate happening. It would just be great to get them whiter however possible anyway. I was just curious as to if this stuff even looks naturally white or if it's just too obvious, and if it does any actual harm to your teeth.

    Thanks in advance.

Ive used Crest White Strips, as have a bunch of other people i know. You can use them too often and look ridiculous, but if you follow the directions, it looks fine. They help, it lasts for 12-18 months, depends on how much tea, soda, coffee you drink.

I don't drink any tea, soda, or coffee. Just water (primarily), juice (OJ/AJ), and milk... but that's really only with like my cereal or ice cream.

Now are these things actually on your teeth, or do you sort of just brush stuff onto them and voila?

I use the white strips as well, they have worked for me.

~$30 for a box so they aren't exactly cheap.

You put the strips on your teeth and they have whitening gel on them. Usually have them on 15-20 minutes and then take them off. Rinse some water around and you're good to go. I wore them on my drive to work.

I once used a whitening pen thing for a week, and it definitely did work. I haven't touched it in 3 years, but I probably should.

I use a mouth rinse/wash that is a teeth whitener. I think it works well, I have noticed a difference. Even though I floss and brush everyday it didnt do much to prevent my teeth from getting a little yellow (also note: I dont smoke but do have at least some soda a day)

I used Crest Whitestrips and it made my already sensitive teeth even more sensitive. Crest has even acknowledged that teeth sensitivity can be a side effect on their packaging. I couldn't drink anything hot for like 3 days.

Thats hilarious, I've had to use that many times when editing pictures for people. It works nicely and there are no side effects!

Thanks. After reading about the potential teeth sensitivity side-affect (which I already have sensitive front teeth as it is), and since I want a gradual change rather than instant so it's a bit more natural, I may go with a kind of mouthwash like e0820 said.

By the way, what product do you use exactly, e?

Only whitening product I use comes from my own body after I finish with my hand.

I can send you some if you like...

I just use the generic (Target) brand of Crest Whitestrips. They're like half as much money and do the exact same thing. I get the 7-day formula (some are longer).

The sensitivity side-effect is pretty legit, but I've only experienced it where it was really bad after I used, like, three applications on the same day. Following the directions probably limits the effect.

Also, Blzer, you can prolong the process as long as you want. You get x number of trays (or strips), and you're supposed to use them once (or twice) per day until they're gone; but you can obviously use them any time you want. In other words, you could kill two birds with one stone by, say, using them three times per week: slow process, no extra-sensitivity.

Now me, I just use them until my teeth can stand no more. They're gone in a few days. But one could just as easily draw out the process over several weeks.
