I wish he was able to let the dog out, I know how these dogs are trained, and he would have mauled this coward to death if it was the last thing he ever did.

Just in case anyone was wondering, His K9 will be retired and given to the family.
RIP Brother! I'm actually shedding a few tears writing this as it is extremely difficult. When it comes to K9's, they are always retired and given to the family. When it comes to training, they cannot be retrained with another officer.

It never really matters why the coward did this. Nothing could ever justify taking the life of a fellow officer in my book. There is a higher authority he will answer too and in the end, justice will prevail!!!

        Very sad.
        R.I.P. Brother.
It's been a long time for me....a long time...but I still feel comaraderie with police officers.
If you ever say...."why did he have to have his hand on his gun?" or....."that so and so actually pulled his weapon out when he came up to my window....what for?"....THIS is why.
I've said it time and time again on this board....you absolutely CANNOT understand the tension that comes from situations as a police officer until you experience it. You may think you get it...but trust me..you don't.

I really think that municipalities must get back to two in a car. One man car's are getting ridiculously dangerous. They can find the money somewhere.

...and lastly....I simply hate it when news media calls anything to do with Fire or Police "routine". There are no "routine" traffic stops...there are no "routine" fires. Idiotic phrase when relating to a police officer or a fire department job(not the vocation...we call any event we participate in a "job" or "run")

I hope they hang the mutt MF'er.

May he rest in peace, for all of eternity. I can't imagine the pain his family feels...this is awful.

Re: Officer Killed in the line of duty.

A little off topic, but I recently attended a "War Dogs Ceremony" at March Air Force Base near Riverside, CA. We also have police dog handlers there. One of the officers just lost his dog. They were on a very long pursuit from Oceanside, CA down to San Diego (about 30 miles), they chased the guy who stopped on the Coronado bridge (quite high over San Diego Bay). The canine officer released the dog on the guy, the dog jumped him, the guy then jumped off the bridge holding the dog. The dog died, the friggin' arsewipe lived!!!! Really shook me up.

I gave the officer a copy of my book and had tears in my eyes as I offered my sympathy.

This kind of stuff........I'm glad I'm retired, but it all still gets to me. Sad day for the officer killed and his family. It's a tough job, and yes, MK, no such thing as a routine traffic stop.

It doesn't matter what you believe in. Fact is, this man who dedicated his life to protecting all of us from from the worst humanity has to offer was killed by such a piece of trash is heartbreaking. Unbelievable that he went to work everyday knowing that he risked leaving behind his wife and child. Unbelievable how many people do this everyday. I can't articulate what that means to me.

it's too bad they dont let Miktarian's wife tee off on the POS with a shotgun, or tie him to a tree and give her an aluminum baseball bat...but lethal injection is better than nothing. They need to bring back the chair or a firing squad.

                      Id riot with ya

Yesterday Joshua Miktarian of the Twinsburg Ohio Police Department was killed while making a "routine" traffic stop. This happened about 5 miles up the road from where I live. For some reason I felt like I knew Officer Miktarian, I passed his house many times, and also saw him in his yard working with his Partner Bairo, a German Shepard K9 police dog. I feel like I need to do something, so I am getting ready to go get some flowers to drop off at his home.

If you are the praying type please keep Officer Miktarian's family in your prayers. He leaves behind his wife, and 3 month old daughter. God bless you officer Miktarian.
Always disturbing when this happens someplace close and where you drive by every now and then. I honestly wish nothing but the worst on Ashford and his scumbag lawyer for trying to claim self-defense. Honestly, how could the shooter, as freakin dumb as he obviously is for shooting a cop, not fire his lawyer for trying to claim that? If you get arrested with the gun that you shot him with and its obvious that the cop couldn't pull his weapon, then just plead guilty and try to get a lesser count instead of trying to make us feel bad for you and trying to get certain special interest groups behind you (and failing miserably). I honestly wish we could just line up as citizens and take our shots at people like this

                            Policeman's Prayer

Dear Lord, be with me on my beat
                            This day and every day.
Grant that each weary block I walk,
                            May ease a brothers way.

Let me be kindly to the old
And to the young, be strong
But let me triumph over those
Whose acts are cruel and wrong.

And if according to your plan,
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting hand
                            My children and my wife.

I just found out today that my wife works with Officer Miktarian's ex gf. She isn't doing very well. Its amazing how much this effects so many different people. Im doing better now, although I will admit, I did cry yesterday, especially when I went to drop flowers off at the makeshift memorial.
