Frustration & Gaming
So i am playing MVP 08 and just getting embarassed by Mark Mulder. He struck me out 12 times and it just felt i could not do anything...so i am pretty much yelling at the screen and at myself...and hitting the controller on the ground....its pretty crazy...so my question is, how do you maintain your frustration when you are doing bad in a game, because i feel like i need help with thisTags: None -

I used to be really bad, breaking controllers pretty frequently and even threw my Size 16 Timbs through a wall once (huge hole in the sheet-rock in the apartment I was living in at the time) but I finally realized it's just a video game and since then I've been all good."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Frustration & Gaming
I used to slam my hand on the floor and yell at the TV and stuff... especially when my WRs dropped the ball in NCAA04 and 05.
I just laugh when something like that happens now. When the D-line does the ol' Jump-the-Snap on me, and I don't have time to do a damn thing, I just laugh and often even shut the system off before I get too upset. It's just a game... it'll be there another day.
In terms of IRL sports, I never got/get too upset. You win some, you lose some... and sometimes you can't win any, like my high school football team senior year. What's getting upset about it going to do? That's what I always think. And I see how other people act and how idiotic they look when they get upset over sports, and I just don't want to look that way. No one wants to hear me whining about this and yelling about that.
If I'm coaching a flag-football team (which I do at school) and we're getting beat, I try to tell my teammates how to improve in the game or try to motivate them to play better with a metaphorical pat on the back and an "attaboy." No yelling at all (unless it's from the sideline telling them to look for a certain play or something like that). Hell, if I know the game's out of reach, I just bail on the game plan and tell the guys to have fun. I'll put people out of position, run whacky plays, etc.
It's just a game. Sports are supposed to be fun.
Getting all bent out of shape over sports is ridiculous and makes you look silly.
It's supposed to be fun. Find the fun in the game. If it's not fun, you shouldn't be playing (video games or IRL sports).Originally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? No one can seem to kill the right one.Comment

I hate to admit it but I get this way sometimes when I play guitar hero or rockband. Only game that I've ever had much frustration with. It's pretty sad that I actually got mad enough one night that I jerked the whammy bar right out of the guitar. And I'm usually a pretty laid back guy. I went out and bought a new wireless guitar and learned to controlled my frustration after that.My Teams

Re: Frustration & Gaming
I tell myself that if I ever get so mad that I'm throwing things and yelling that all I have to do is quit and start it over or just turn the system off. It's also just a videogame so I won't get that mad anyway.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Frustration & Gaming
From Middle School through my Sophomore year of HS, I was no good man. Can't even tell you how much I spent on New Controllers during that time period.
Now when I'm frustrated, I either pause the game for a while and take a break(usually a few hours or so)or just turn the game off completely.#RespectTheCultureComment
